It's #ConstructionSafetyWeek! 🚧 Safety is the responsibility of everyone who steps on a job site, and hazards can change from day to day. Site conditions that you observed on your walk on Monday will have changed by Tuesday, and new hazards may be presented. Site safety is only optimized when everyone plays their part in hazard identification and resolution. Out of the 3,500 decisions you have to make today, when it comes to safety, it’s easy - SEE SOMETHING. SAY SOMETHING. Yesterday our team kicked off safety week with the topic of the day: DRIVING PERSONAL OWNERSHIP Although the construction industry has extensive safety standards, processes, and procedures in place to keep us safe, serious accidents and dangerous events can occur at any time unless we continue to maintain consistent focus. It’s important that every one of us accepts a greater level of responsibility for our own safety and the safety of others. When it comes to safety, whether it be an unsafe condition or behavior, if you see it, you own it, if you walk by it, you condone it. #ValueEveryVoice #EncourageListenEmpower #constructionsafetyweek

Construction Safety Week – Day 2. Part of VECA’s culture of safety is understanding we must continue to evolve and adapt our processes, and this starts with encouraging and welcoming new ideas. Today’s jobsite focus is ergonomics. Even a small movement with a light load, when repeated incorrectly, can lead to injury. Proper form, lifting techniques, and knowing when to ask for help can reduce the most common strains and sprains that occur onsite.
