The hotel industry in Hong Kong is set for a transformative year, driven by a strong resurgence in tourism and a positive outlook for property sales. With tourism numbers on the rise, industry stakeholders are bullish on the sector’s prospects. Recent data highlights HK$7.85 billion in significant hotel transactions over the past two years, underscoring heightened investor confidence. The influx of tourists, bolstered by government initiatives, has seen arrivals jump by a third to an impressive 44.5 million in 2024. This trend is paving the way for potential conversion of hotels into student accommodations, addressing the acute shortage of student housing. As a result, the hospitality sector's impact on Hong Kong’s economic progress is expected to nearly double by 2029, indicating a return to its pre-2018 vitality. "Despite obstacles, we see a promising year ahead for the hotel sector," said Shaman Chellaram, senior director for Asia at Colliers. President Residence Invests €25M in Craiova Hotel... Real estate developer President Residence is building a €25 million, 180-room branded hotel in Craiova, slated to open by Christmas 2025. The hotel will include conference facilities, restaurants, and parking, catering to Craiova’s growing business hub and logistical demands. The project follows the completion of 350 apartments in its initial phase, with future plans including the renovation of historic buildings and new residential investments. Denisa Strunoiu, CEO of President Residence, emphasized Craiova’s need for such accommodations, given its evolution as a cultural and business center.
