Blurring the Design Lines: Where Contemporary Airline Lounges Meet Hospitality Design In today’s world, the modern traveler expects more than functionality—they crave experiences. Blurring the lines between a contemporary airline lounge and traditional hospitality design achieves this by transforming transient spaces into sanctuaries of comfort, luxury, and curated experience. Hospitality-inspired airline lounges go beyond serving as waiting areas by incorporating elements that echo boutique hotels or luxury resorts. These spaces feature personalized service, intuitive layouts, and sensory-driven designs that create a sense of welcome and exclusivity. Warm lighting, plush seating, natural materials, and curated art evoke the sophistication of high-end interiors, while innovative F&B concepts replicate the allure of a fine dining experience. The result? A space that is not just a lounge but a microcosm of hospitality, where every detail is crafted to leave a lasting impression on the traveler, even before their journey begins.

Older-style hotels have a certain charm to them. Characterised by classical architecture, generous layouts, grand lobbies, traditional decor and plush furnishings. These elements bring a sense of timeless elegance and hospitality. In contrast, newer-styled hotels prioritise modern lifestyles, where design and functionality take centre stage. Minimalist aesthetics, mood lighting, sleek furnishings, and integrated technologies define the experience, offering a seamless blend of comfort and contemporary sophistication. Staying in each type of establishment tends to evoke distinct feelings and bring about unique experiences. I stayed in an older-style hotel recently. While the mark of time was evident, it was well appointed and maintained, remained comfortable and thoughtfully upgraded. What stood out was their service, attentive, warm and unobtrusive. There was a quiet confidence to it. It reminds me of when I was with an old hotelier some time ago. We met at a sleek, modern hotel where he was staying, which happened to belong to a rival group. He was checking out the competition. To him, facilities are important, but the core mission of hospitality is service. His conclusion, they had the “hardware but lack the software”. 💼 In careers and life, new and trendy may not always win. Sometimes, there is little substitute for enduring qualities that stand the test of time. 🏡 I usually prefer new and well-designed hotels, but it’s refreshing to revisit a classic. There is a reason why classics remain classics.

Ever wonder what makes a hotel lobby the kind of place you want to linger a little longer? It turns out, biophilic design is the secret sauce. Think nature, greenery, and that “ahhh” feeling you get when you’re surrounded by something a bit wilder than drywall. Here’s the scoop from the graphic: 🍃 Guests spend 36% more time in biophilic lobbies—so it’s not just the free Wi-Fi keeping them there. 🍃 Reviews of biophilic hotels mention “experience” twice as often- take that, beige decor. 🍃 Water views? Expect an 11-18% higher price tag, and people are happy to pay it. 🍃 Oh, and throw in a view of a famous landmark or some greenery? That’s a 12% premium right there. In short: nature isn’t just good for the soul- it’s good for business too! What are your thoughts on weaving nature into everyday spaces? Drop them below 👇 #biophilicdesign #bringnatureindoors #plantsmakepeoplehappy #greenwalls #ihg #hospitality #hotels #sustainabledesign #hilton #marriott #1hotel

Breathing new life into a timeless story. The Lotus Palace, a 230-year-old structure rich with history, stands as a testament to the art of blending the old with the new. Once the heart of local celebrations, it has now transformed into a stunning 15-key boutique hotel under the visionary stewardship of The Park Hotels Our branding identity project for The Lotus Palace sought to reflect this harmonious blend. Drawing inspiration from its storied past—refurbished Burma teak pillars, intricate frescoes, and custom Athangudi tiles—and its modern vision, including a vibrant lounge, marble kolam courtyard, and contemporary amenities, we crafted an identity that is as simple as it is sophisticated. Every design choice was made to enhance the guest experience, ensuring the brand exudes elegance while feeling effortlessly approachable. The new identity is more than a logo; it's an invitation to experience the perfect interplay of heritage and modernity. A visual story for a hospitality experience like no other.
