The Indonesia-Italy Trade and Investment Forum 2024 in Milan, held on September 19, brought together key stakeholders to explore strategic trade and investment opportunities between the two nations. Organised by the Embassy of Indonesia in Rome, in collaboration with IIPC London, ITPC Milan and other respective stakeholders, the forum highlighted Indonesia’s growing potential across various sectors. Following the panel discussion, Mr. Robert Marbun and IIPC London held one-on-one meetings with prominent companies and organisations such as Fincantieri, S&H, Sovereign Investment Lab-Bocconi Unviersity, and Intesa San Paolo to explore investment opportunities and discuss their plans for expanding operations in Indonesia. These productive discussions are expected to foster continued collaboration and drive growth within Indonesia’s investment landscape. ASEAN IPAs Initiate Development Of Regional Approach To FDI & Investment Promotion https://lnkd.in/gunM8XSA On the 20-21 March 2024, Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) of ASEAN Member States and Timor Leste as well as The ASEAN Secretariat convened at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (United Nations ESCAP)’s headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand to initiate the work in developing a possible regional investment promotion action plan. The workshop was the second of a series of capacity-building workshops arranged by UNESCAP, as part of its ongoing collaboration activities with the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Investment (CCI) focusing on the promotion and attraction of investments. Consultations were conducted both individually and collectively with the ASEAN IPAs involved, initiating the development of a regional approach to investment promotion in the region. Over the upcoming months, this plan is set to undergo rigorous consultation processes, with an expected launch at the ASEAN Investment Forum scheduled in Lao PDR in October 2024. The CCI-UNESCAP collaboration started in 2023 with the ASEAN Investment Forum (AIF) on 2 September 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia, followed by an ASEAN IPA workshop from 7-9 November 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. MALAYSIA ATTRACTED RM160 BILLION IN APPROVED INVESTMENTS IN 1H2024, AN 18% YEAR-ON-YEAR INCREASE Malaysia has demonstrated its continued appeal to investors and resilience in the face of global economic uncertainty by attracting a substantial 18-per cent year-on-year increase in approved investments to RM160.0 billion across the services, manufacturing, and primary sectors from January to June 2024 (1H 2024). This surge in investment is backed by a substantial 2,948 investment projects, which is expected to create a significant 79,187 new job opportunities. Domestic direct investments have taken the lead for 1H2024, making up a significant 53.4% of the total approved investments, valued at RM85.4 billion, while foreign direct investments accounted for 46.6% of the total approved investments, worth RM74.6 billion. Milken Institute Global Opportunity Index 2024: Attracting Foreign Investment The US’s Milken Institute has announced its Global Opportunity Index (GOI) 2024 report, with Malaysia named as the country with the best overall investment condition among emerging and developing (E&D) nations in Asia. Globally, Malaysia has an overall ranking of 27, ahead of Thailand (37) and China (39), according to the report.
