Green sand casting, also known as green sand molding, is a popular, economical, environmentally friendly, and widely-used process for producing simple and complex metal parts, particularly for small to medium-sized casting applications. Due to its consistent, repeatable nature, green sand casting has been utilized as a casting resource for several hundred years. Green sand refers to the fact that the process is entirely recyclable and the sand contains no chemical additives. The process of green sand casting or molding involves using a mixture of mined Olivine sand, Bentonite clay, and water, which is tightly packed into a flask or molding box that creates a “frame” to hold the sand against the pattern. The sand mixture is damp, not baked, fired, or chemically bonded, which makes it malleable and easy to mold. Once the sand is packed against the pattern, the mold is removed from the pattern to create a cavity in the desired part’s shape. Molten metal is then poured into this cavity. When the metal cools and solidifies, the sand mold is broken apart to remove the casting. The sand is collected to be used again for future castings. Why choose this process for your parts? During continuous casting of steel, the stopper rise and stopper wash in the tundish can impact the casting process. Let’s explore these phenomena: 👉 Stopper Rise: Definition: Stopper rise refers to the upward movement of the tundish stopper rod during casting. 👉 Cause: The difference in thermal expansion between the body material and the metallic rod leads to the connection eventually slackening. During preheating and use, the thin graphite seal provides limited elasticity, and leaks may occur due to vibration and lateral stopper movement. 👉 Impact: Stopper rise affects the flow control of molten steel from the tundish to the mold. The addition of alloy such as chromium, nickel, and molybdenum to the nodular cast iron roller results in a pearlite nodular cast iron roller after special heat treatment. Its properties are similar to Indefinite Chill except that the graphite structure is changed from flake to spheroidal forms. Pearlitic rolls will have higher strength than indefinite Chill. Method: It can be produced by static casting (Monoblock) or by using the centrifugal cast (CC) Double-pour method. Recommended Applications -Rolls for roughing stands of medium section mills, bar mills and wire mills. -Rolls for intermediate, finishing stands of bar mills. -Rolls for sleeves of universal stands.

45 steel, laser hardening hardness reaches about HRC60. Laser hardening requires parts to be manufactured from heat treatable, hardenable alloys such as 400-series stainless steel, Inconel, or high carbon steel. The time and temperature curves of these materials will dictate the range of hardness achievable by heat treating, and, for low-distortion applications, it is prudent to select a target hardness somewhat below the maximum achievable. Unlike furnace or flame hardening, laser hardening is a line of sight process, and so the surface to be treated must be directly visible. How to prolong the using life of the mixing blade? We think we need to pay attention to below factors: 1. The carbide grade. The main materials for the refractory brick are Hexamine, graphite, powder resin, and Alumina Oxide or Sinter Magnesite. Its hardness is 9 Mohs. So choosing a proper carbide is a key point, otherwise the blade will wear and tear easily. 2. The brazing method. As we all know high-frequency brazing is more economical and easier to handle, but its negative is also obvious: carbide cracks easily; carbide quality is compromised; carbide falls off easily, and so on. Vacuum brazing can solve the above negatives, but the technique is much harder than high-frequency brazing, and the cost is higher. 3. The design. We provided samples to our customers, and although the performance was good, the customer would like to have better performance.
