Option 2 for the clock change: the night before the clock change put your little one to bed half an hour earlier. In theory this could be the little tweak that will help get them closer to the ‘new time'.

In the intensity of our day to day, it’s easy to get caught playing whack-a-mole with things as they occur. We burn our time putting out the fires of the symptoms and exhaust ourselves. As they come faster and faster, we become less effective and burn ourselves out reacting to problems as we see them. It’s a trap that we all fall into. Phrases like “I can’t do this anymore” are a signal that we aren’t spending our limited energy on the right things; we often can’t see it because we’re focused on the little moles as they pop up faster and faster. We’re worried about missing the moles while the underlying cause - the mechanical heart of the mole machine - keeps running full steam. Stop. Unplug the machine. Find the common thread, or threads, between the problems and cut them off from the source. Do you have the support you need? What do you need to be successful? Make a list. Ask for help. Don’t sacrifice your own power and autonomy and cut off your support system. Remember you can unplug the machine.

Reliable: "I want to get there early." Unreliable: "I forgot to set my alarm." Reliable: "Let's get some extra reps." Unreliable: "Let's get this over with." Reliable: "That's not how we do things." Unreliable: "They won't even know." Show up. Do the work. Lead the way.
