Should you let your dog on the furniture?? For the vast majority of people, I don't think you should. Your dog should earn the privilege of getting on the couch. Too often, dog owners fail to create structure and good habits for their dogs, allowing their pets to bully them. Most owners I talk to seek training because their dogs struggle with separation anxiety. By constantly allowing your dog to be right beside you, you're enabling them to become overly dependent on you. When you leave and they start crying and barking, it's because they're experiencing withdrawal—they need their “fix.” I don’t have a problem if you let your dog on the couch with you, but they also need time to be separated from you. It is not healthy to be in constant contact with your dog. Allowing for separation is one of the best things you can implement in your dog's life. #dogtraining #dogsoftampa #tampadogtrainer #tampadogtraining #tampadog #tampadogs #tampa #bradenton #sarasota

Is Your Dog a Genius? Thinking of welcoming a furry friend into your life? Consider a smart breed! These pups are quick learners, eager to please, and can even solve problems on their own! But what makes a dog smart? There are 3 main types: Working Smarts: How fast they pick up new commands (think Border Collies aced over 1,000 object names!) Obedience Smarts: How willing they are to follow your lead (some breeds are more independent ) Adaptive Smarts: How well they problem-solve on their own (think outsmarting the treat jar!) Here are 3️⃣ smart breeds to know: 1️⃣ Border Collie: The Einstein of dogs! These superstars love learning tricks and challenges. They're high energy though, so get ready for playtime! ♀️ 2️⃣ Poodle: Don't be fooled by their fancy fur, Poodles are brilliant! ✨ These quick learners excel at various tasks and even have great memories! Just remember, they need regular grooming. ✂️ 3️⃣ German Shepherd: The go-to for police and military work, these loyal companions are super smart and easy to train. ♀️ They thrive on having a job to do, so keep them mentally stimulated! Thinking of getting a smart dog? Here are some things to consider: Lifestyle: Can you match their exercise and attention needs? Space: Do you have room for their energy level? Time: Are you ready for daily training sessions? Experience: Are you a first-time dog owner? Some breeds may require more experience. Remember, every dog is unique! Training and socialization are key for any pup. What smart dog breeds do YOU love? Share your stories below! #SmartDogs #DogLovers #LoyalCompanions
