‘I have been here before about two years ago; we played really well, drew two-all and then won on penalties’. As much as he wanted to open his speech with those words Mushtaq Khan didn’t at his session at the #sec2024 event. The session was about workplace inclusivity and he touched upon the role of leaders, culture and teams in building better workplaces. Some relevant stories from our accreditations, board programmes and training on biases was added to the mix. A great session chaired by Dewbien Plummer (again) with fantastic contributions from Lucy Malarkey (She/Her) and Ellie Carswell MRICS

Many of you will know that we share an office with Manningham Housing Association. Today is Ulfat Hussain's last day as deputy chief executive at Manningham, before he leaves for his new role as the chief executive of Arawak Walton Housing Association. We've enjoyed working with Ulfat and have admired his commitment to providing the best possible services and new affordable housing to the diverse communities of Bradford. Ulfat has also been a great friend of HDN, attending our events and even chairing a webinar from time to time, most recently on racial inequalities in housing and the lessons from the UK Housing Review. We're sure that Ulfat's extensive work in the housing sector, especially with Black and minority ethnic communities, make him a natural fit for his new position, and wish him all the best in his new role. We managed to catch him outside on typically cold and misty Bradford day.
