Trust me, you're not alone in this bustling cannabis cosmos. But fear not – here are three game-changers to help your dispensary shine bright, even when the neighbors are slinging buds! 💳 1. Diverse Payment Options – Yes, Including Credit Cards! In the land of green, convenience is king. Sure, there might be a dispensary around every corner, but ours is like your favorite neighborhood joint. We're all about making your visit uniquely yours. Imagine a dispensary that knows your preferences like a best friend. Loyalty programs, tailored recommendations, and exclusive treats based on your green journey – that's how we roll. Because your highs deserve to be as unique as you are! 🌈🎉 🌐 3. Community Vibes and Green Wisdom! Now, let's talk community. We're not just a dispensary; we're your cannabis confidantes. We host events, workshops, and seminars because knowledge is power, and we believe in empowering our community. By being more than just a seller of buds, we're your go-to resource for all things green. We're not just building a business; we're cultivating a cannabis community! 🤝🌿 🍀 Final Thoughts: Craft Your Unique Cannabis Identity! So, fellow dispensaries, it's not about the competition; it's about creating your unique cannabis identity. Diverse payments, personalized experiences, and community love – combine these, and you've got a recipe for standing out in the sea of green. 2 local dispensary owners choose profit over principles Sonoma, California - You can accept things as they are, or you can *say* something... SVCG member Josette Brose-Eichar and I spoke during the Public Comment period at a recent Sonoma City Council meeting. The key items put before the city council: · Cannabis, Honesty and Equality – SPARC's Erich Pearson, who owns the only dispensary in town, has thrown honesty aside in order to protect his own interests. He recently defamed our group in a city council meeting. · According to The Press Democrat, another dispensary owner, John Loe, who recently opened a store outside the city limits, has stood before the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and vented hateful rhetoric. · We need businesses that promote honesty and equality and we should *not* support businesses that don’t. · We have sent a letter to Pearson’s capital investors, Emily Paxhia and Poseidon, asking for a retraction of the libelous remarks he made about our group to the city council. · We also authored a Position Paper regarding local control and the lack of retail outlets that has been signed by many cannabis organizations and companies: https://lnkd.in/g-C_BFm6 Bottom line, we’ve got a ranting hater over here, an ethically-challenged operator over there, and stuck right in the middle is an electorate that overwhelmingly supported Prop64, imploring for better access. #cannabis #cannabisbusiness #cannabisindustry #cannabiscommunity #cannabisretail #cannabismarketing #dispensary #sonoma #cannabisnews

Co-Founder and CEO of Crystal Nugs, the first Black woman owned cannabis delivery and storefront dispensary in Sacramento CA Social Equity✔️ Locally owned and operated ✔️
Thank you @ken.magri and Solving Sacramento for highlighting Crystal Nugs and social equity here in Sacramento! Photo by Kachiside Madu Maisha Bahati stands proudly inside her new storefront. “We took so many risks,” she says. After four years of hard work and worry, Crystal Nugs cannabis delivery service opened a walk-in dispensary on J Street in Midtown Sacramento in November. Crystal Nugs is Sacramento’s first Black and women-owned cannabis dispensary, and one of four new stores assisted by Sacramento’s Cannabis Opportunity and Racial Equity program. Bahati and her partners C Lofton, Melinda Brown and Bryan Brown started in 2019 as a delivery service. “A few months in, I heard that the city was working on this program to help Black and brown people get into cannabis,” she says. Shortly after, Crystal Nugs became a CORE participant. Bahati attended basic business classes administered by the Greater Sacramento Urban League and the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce. She connected with other CORE participants while learning about financing, fee waivers and grant applications. To avoid giving away part of their ownership to a bigger company, the four partners sold their homes and liquidated their assets. Aided by CORE grants and loans, Bahati says the partners finally accumulated the $400,000 they needed to proceed, along with $600,000 they raised themselves. To better succeed, Bahati wants Sacramento to legalize on-site consumption, which would allow customers to enjoy products within a lounge setting at any dispensary. “If the city does move on that, it’s going to completely change the game,” she says. San Francisco has allowed it in selected dispensaries since 2022. Last September, the city’s Law and Legislation committee began exploring “a pilot program of consumption lounges with consideration of consumption events to come later,” says Jennifer Singer, communications specialist for the city. . . . . #sacramento #crystalnugs #blackowned #womenowned #socialequity #community #locallygrown #midtown #bethechange

It would be great if Choose Chicago and World Business Chicago teamed up to develop an economic development and tourism strategy focused on cannabis. Here is why: Many major cannabis operators are based in Illinois. Illinois is home to the boldest social equity program in the country. Discovery Partner's Institute is working on a cannabis research center. We have fine dining and the best cultural institutions in the country. Imagine if city and business leaders tied all these things together and made Chicago the Napa Valley of cannabis. My broader point: We should lean into our cannabis economy. "Chicagoland could become the Napa Valley of cannabis, according to Pawar, if steps are taken to combine the areas’ food tourism scene and its recreational cannabis. He said he would love to see an integration of fine dining and cannabis. To achieve this, Pawar pitched a partnership between the cannabis industry, economic development agency World Business Chicago and Choose Chicago, which manages the city’s tourism. He hopes to open three to four more locations as the company grows." The Fifty/50 Group #cannabis #hospitalityindustry #tourism

We were thrilled to be on hand and watch one of our clients, Bliss+Lex, become Manhattan’s first black-woman-owned cannabis dispensary and Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) licensee. As our Aleece Burgio shares, their barriers to entry have been high -- but they never stopped working toward their goal. In many ways, their journey is an example of how NY state has gotten this program right. https://lnkd.in/e2xeiq2x #cannabislaw #decriminalization #nycannabis

NEW; The owner of controversial Massachusetts dispensary Elev8-Athol, Seun Adedeji, has made a confusing post on social media Thursday afternoon, attempting to suggest that a disturbing internet video made by Adedeji in March of 2023 was nothing more than a “training exercise” for employees. Following that video being posted, state regulators suspended the Elev8-Athol license and Adedeji was jailed. I am not sure how to explain or contextualize Thursday’s development, as I was unable to explain a post in December of 2023 when Adedeji used social media to proposition potential investors in his company for sex - https://lnkd.in/eGDkdtKB At an October Athol Selectboard meeting, it was confirmed that Elev8's Host Community Agreement (HCA) has been cancelled - https://lnkd.in/eq3A2rQZ In March of 2023, as mentioned, state regulators with the CCC issued a summary suspension for the company in light of a disturbing Instagram post by Elev8 CEO Seun Adedeji - https://lnkd.in/eHxs2Uag In that video, Mr. Adedeji threatened the lives of his former staff members, staff of the CCC and used sexually charged --and violent-- language while doing so - https://lnkd.in/e7VM7RUB Elev8 also has a location in Eugene, Oregon Requests for comments to Oregon officials over recent months, as to the status of that license, have gone unanswered. Of note; multiple people either threatened me, or retaliated against me, for reporting on this story since March. To be clear, doing so is inappropriate and I would rather stop talking to you than cover up the truth.
