Exciting news! Dallas city leaders came together Wednesday to break ground on a brand-new park at Forest and Audelia - a project inspired by The Park at Forest-Audelia that Better Block activated in 2021. Originally launched as part of a Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, The Park at Forest-Audelia showcased how thoughtful design can promote safety and vibrancy. The new one-acre park will sit on the southern end of the shopping center facing Forest Lane and will feature a playground, multi-use sport courts, pavilions, landscaping, and trees, and more. Planning permission has been granted for the Central Boulevard Park, a 1.9-hectare space set to become a key feature of the Adamstown SDZ. Designed to bring the community together, the park will offer spaces for relaxation and activity, from natural play areas for all ages to open lawns ideal for picnics and events. The park will enhance local biodiversity with pollinator-friendly plants, preserved hedgerows, and a stunning veteran oak tree. It also incorporates sustainable features like rain gardens and SuDS, alongside pedestrian and cycle paths that connect Airlie Park to Adamstown Station. This project is a vital step in Adamstown’s transformation into a sustainable, community-focused urban environment. #HydeParkHistories – #3: A Hidden Gem Often described as one of #London’s hidden gems, the Hyde Park Estate enjoys a reputation as a place of urban tranquillity away from the city’s major throughfares. Some of its historic routes, greens and open spaces include: 🌳 Sussex Gardens: This tree-lined avenue forms one of the boundaries of the Hyde Park Estate. With its mixture of Georgian terraces and 1960s complexes, it showcases the Estate’s two most distinctive architectural styles. In the early 2010s, railings lost to the war effort for their rationed metal were reinstated after nearly 70 years, alongside new landscaping for its garden areas. 🐎 The mews: Though some of the Estate’s mews were lost to 1960s redevelopment, two can still be found behind Sussex Gardens. Radnor and Bathurst Mews feature cobbled streets and retain many of their original carriage houses. Home to the Hyde Park Stables, Bathurst Mews is one of London’s last remaining mews with horses. The Stables provide horseback tours through Hyde Park along routes believed to be over 300 years old. 🐝 The garden squares: Carefully managed by dedicated garden square committees, all eight of the Hyde Park Estate's original 19th century squares remain today. The Church Commissioners for England continue to introduce new green spaces to the Estate, like the recently installed Reflection Garden adjacent to 25 Porchester Place. These are accompanied by #biodiversity projects including bird boxes, bee hotels and log stacks.
