We think of #womenrights as addendums to ordinary female lives, added onto a picture of women in motion. Not every life is ordinary, not every child born is safe. A woman’s life can grind to a real or metaphoric halt when #abusers use pregnancies, children, and economic dependency to trap women. If you don’t think this is a #workforce issue, consider the numbers. Women you work with are silently enduring. Or women you have worked with have been forced out of work by interruptions, tactics, and economic disablement created by abusers. Don’t be complicit. Act at work. Vote to protect #womenatwork. Conservatively, between 30% and 40% of women have been victims of physical #intimatepartnerviolence and stalking. The number is much higher when abusive control is exercised by emotional, cultural, or economic means. A woman’s ability to be safe, for herself and her existing children, depends on her ability to be autonomous. A woman will often endure anything to protect her children, including die. Please help them have those children when they want, with people who will empower them.
Domestic violence survivors without access to safe and legal abortion may encounter heightened obstacles when seeking to leave abusive relationships. These barriers not only impede their ability to access essential care but also hinder their journey towards safety and reclaiming control over their lives and well-being. We must hold those in power accountable for better legislation and protections for survivors and their families when it comes reproductive rights. #ReproductiveRights #SupportingSurvivors #EndDVNow

Whether it’s a friend, mentor, or even yourself - who do you celebrate this #IWD24? Joyce Cohen Lashof, one of the key people who initiated federally funded community health centers in this country during the late 60's. In countries worldwide, there is a strong correlation between restrictive abortion laws and alarming rises in maternal mortality and morbidity rates. By championing women's reproductive rights, we not only safeguard the well-being of women everywhere, but also empower them to steer their own destinies. Access to safe and legal abortion is not just a fundamental human right; it's a cornerstone of personal autonomy and self-determination. #womenrights #selfcare #selfdetermination
