While ‘knowing the game’ and ‘winning the game’ are important steps, it’s equally crucial to examine the systemic barriers and biases that women encounter in accessing funding. Instead of treating it as a game to be won individually, perhaps we should focus on advocating for systemic change and creating a more inclusive environment for all entrepreneurs. Additionally, highlighting specific strategies or resources available to support female founders in navigating the fundraising landscape could provide more actionable insights. Let’s strive for meaningful change beyond just ‘winning the game.

What did Margaret Thatcher say? Something about if you want something done, ask a woman? Yup that sounds about right. In 2022, 2% of all VC funds (~$107 billion) was raised by women-led VC funds. In 2023, that number went up to 3%. We’re here and we’re not stopping until our share is monumental. ✅More companies. ✅More founders. ✅More fund managers. More women-led VC funds means more opportunities and capital for women-led startups in spaces where men are less likely to be interested in. Did somebody say women’s health? This untapped investment area allows VC funds to put their money towards solutions that will have major impacts for us women and to help put more of us in the space. Never underestimate the power of a woman, especially those leading VC firms.
