HR&A Advisors has been honored to support faith-based institutions from Houston to Denver to the Bronx on mission-aligned real estate strategies thanks to the support of Trinity Church Wall Street. Recently, HR&A Partner Bret Collazzi and Senior Analyst Taylor A. Kay were invited by Trinity to present to faith leaders. They discussed how to approach early-stage real estate feasibility analysis, which experts to engage and when, and considerations for church leaders regarding the future of their properties. The presentation also covered how to balance the tradeoffs between maximizing real estate value and fulfilling their mission. As a long-time advisor to mission-driven organizations, HR&A is committed to helping faith communities grow their mission and impact through strategic real estate advisory, including delivering housing, community space, and other neighborhood assets. It's been an honor to share insights gained from our work. Special thanks to the Trinity Church Wall Street Team, including James Clark III, CRE, May Yu, Meghan Taylor-Steshyn, and HR&A alum Syed Ali , for hosting us! #RealEstateAdvisory #FaithCommunities #MissionGrowth #CommunityImpact

It’s a season of reflection for me as I prepare for parental leave, looking back at the challenges and triumphs of the past year. Trust has been the cornerstone of my journey, particularly when faced with the task of overseeing AV/IT in our church’s renovation project. Navigating a project with a meager budget of $100K, I realized the necessity of fostering trust in every aspect of the process. While some approaches proved futile, such as dwelling on past mistakes or using technical jargon, building trusting relationships with vendors and other trades became paramount. By cultivating trust with key stakeholders like vendors, trades, and church leadership, I discovered the true essence of successful collaboration. It wasn’t just about technical expertise but about earning trust through genuine engagement and commitment to serving our community. Alongside vendors and trusted staff members, I was able to craft a narrative that led us to a $1M budget — a dollar amount that, while remaining modest, covered our congregation’s needs and honored our church’s values. As I continue to enhance my knowledge and skills, I remain convinced that trust is the foundation on which all professional relationships thrive. Investing in trust-building is not just a strategy but a fundamental principle that drives meaningful connections and outcomes in every endeavor. Work to earn the trust of your consumers, your leaders, and your vendors, and everything else will follow. Never build your professional skill set at the expense of your relational one. #Trust #ProfessionalDevelopment #Collaboration

🏠 The Evolution of Workforce Housing: A Journey Through Time 🕰️ Did you know? When mills started to sprout up in the late 1800s in Greenville, SC, employers took it upon themselves to provide housing for their workers. These houses, often located near the mills, were a testament to the symbiotic relationship between employers and employees. Fast forward to today, the landscape has changed. With the rise of urbanization and the shift in economic dynamics, the responsibility of providing affordable housing has largely moved away from employers. So, who's stepping up to ensure our workforce has a roof over their heads? Last week, we took our property management team on a "Workforce Housing Tour." It wasn't just a trip down memory lane but a deep dive into the history and significance of their work. We explored the roots of workforce housing, the challenges faced today, and how their work makes a difference. As we stood amidst the remnants of old mill houses, we were reminded of the importance of affordable housing and the role each one of us plays in this ecosystem. 🤔 Question for the community: How can we, as a society, ensure that affordable housing remains accessible to all, especially our workforce? Share your thoughts below! #WorkforceHousing #AffordableHousing #History #PropertyManagement
