South African social seltzer makes a splash 👀🫧 A few weeks ago That Drink Company (Pty) Ltd (Rivva) started sharing some spicy posts on their socials ✉️ The goal? Simply to get the team at The Shoprite Group of Companies to sign off on stocking their seltzer🍸. Competing against industry giants like HEINEKEN Beverages and AB InBev Africa as a start up has proven that it’s incredibly tricky to break into the beverage game 👀 So, after having their application rejected twice, they’re turning to their community this time in hopes of making just enough noise to get them over the line 🔊. Third time application with a community movement is the charm, right 🍀? 💡 Do you think this rallying community is enough or will it take more to convince the decision makers at Checkers 🤔? #marketing #communitybuilding #southafrica #beverageindustry #consumerbehavior

Founder at Blue Turaco Coffee - Championing Ugandan Specialty Robusta: Making Robusta coffee accessible, empowering small-holder coffee farmers, and fighting childhood hunger through coffee and wildlife safaris
Don’t talk yourself out of the room -Reflecting on my learnings. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to share BLUE TURACO COFFEE at a Fast Forward Events - a cool and remarkable music industry event in london. What started as a coffee break support act - turned into a surprise 7-minute slot to share my story and reasons why I do what I do - thanks to Chris Carey In a room filled with seasoned music industry experts, I, a smallholder coffee farmer turned founder, felt a bit out of place. Listening to the talks, I wondered how I'd fit into this world. On stage, memories of my Ugandan village and the coffee gardens I once worked in flooded my mind - this was not visible to those watching but everywhere in my head. Building Blue Turaco is emotional. reminding me of childhood limitations as I build on shoestring - reminding myself of how I have come and why I do what I do gets me out of thoughts. But also thrilling as we are building one of the most exciting specialty robusta championing coffee brand and positively impacting smallholder robusta farmers' lives in Uganda. The feedback I received after the talk made me ask; how many times have we talked ourselves out of rooms? 🤔 I’m sure you can relate - share in the comment. As a founder and brand builder, I am learning to embrace every opportunity to share our story, to share why we do what we do even if doing places you have never been in before. It's about breaking those barriers , creating possibilities, and allowing our voices to be heard when opportunity arises. Ps: I’m still learning but getting a little better each time. Let’s connect if we are not Wycliffe Sande #BlueTuracoCoffee #FounderStory #CoffeeJourney #Opportunity #PositiveImpact #BuildingBrands #UgandanCoffee #SmallholderFarmers #LinkedInPost

🌍☕ International Coffee Day 2024: Celebrating Collaboration in Coffee ☕🌍 This year today, we celebrate International Coffee Day 2024 under a theme that resonates deeply with us—Collaboration. At Coffee World Uganda, we believe that it is through strong partnerships, both locally and internationally, that the coffee industry continues to thrive, bringing sustainable impact to our communities and beyond. From working hand-in-hand with our smallholder farmers to improve coffee quality, to forging connections with global partners in the export market, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. It's through these efforts that Uganda’s rich, bold coffee is shared with the world, while ensuring that every hand involved in the process is empowered and rewarded. Locally, our initiatives focus on capacity building and education, helping farmers adopt sustainable practices, and creating a fairer value chain. Internationally, we’ve joined forces with partners who share our vision for ethical sourcing, environmental sustainability, and market access—ensuring Uganda’s coffee continues to make waves globally. This year’s theme reminds us that we are not just individual players, but a community united by a common love for coffee and a commitment to growth and sustainability. Together, we can create more opportunities, uplift more lives, and raise the bar for excellence in the coffee industry. Let’s continue to work together, cup by cup, to make a difference! ☕💪 Uganda Coffee Development Authority International Coffee Organization International Coffee Partners International Women's Coffee Alliance International Trade Center ( ITC ) Global Coffee Platform Uganda Coffee Federation Specialty Coffee Association Sustainable Coffee Challenge Fairtrade International #InternationalCoffeeDay #Collaboration #CoffeeWorldUganda #UgandaCoffee #SustainableCoffee #GlobalPartnerships #EmpoweringCommunities #EthicalSourcing #InternationalCoffeeDay #CoffeePeople #CoffeeCommunity #FairTradeCoffee #UgandaCoffee #SupportCoffeeFarmers #SustainableCoffee #ICO #IWCA #ITC #SCA

As a consumer, can you effect real change in society? Certainly, as far as we are concerned. This is one of the reasons why Yumeko was created in 2010. In fact, founders Rob and Stephan believed in a makeable future and dreamed of launching an ethical brand on the market, to prove that sustainable business models are profitable and that consumers can effect real change in society. In other words, "using business as a force for good," as B Lab Benelux so eloquently describes it. By the way, did you know that we received the B Corp certification in 2022? This tells us not only that we are on the right track, but also where there is room for improvement. The B Corp network also gives us the opportunity to learn from other companies how to do things even better. Our B Corp colleagues and we work hard every day to make a difference. We may be dreamers at Yumeko, but we dream big. ✊ #businessforgood #bcorp #bcorpjourney #changetheworldsleeping

Striving for Halal Rizk in Our Workplaces As we work to earn a halal income, it's important to reflect on more than just the effort we put into our jobs. Engaging in workplace politics, backbiting, or pulling others down can turn our hard-earned income into something makrooh (undesirable), as these actions go against what Allah has guided us to avoid. No matter how hard we work, indulging in these negative behaviors can taint the purity of our earnings. Instead, we should foster a positive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. As an HR professional at Inovaqo, I'm working on myself and with my team on this very motive — to eliminate negativity and backbiting from our workplace culture. Together, we are striving to create an environment that aligns with Islamic values of respect, kindness, and collaboration. I encourage you all to reflect on this and do the same within your teams. Let’s commit to building workplaces that truly reflect the best of our values and ensure our rizq remains pure, insha’Allah. #HalalEarnings #WorkplaceEthics #PositivityAtWork #IslamicValues #HRMotivation

Asian food startup Omsom is setting its sight on the growing ethnic packaged food market. Similar to how CAVA and Chipotle Mexican Grill popularized Mediterranean and Mexican food on their way to becoming multibillion-dollar enterprises, Omsom aims to win America over with its Asian cooking sauces and packaged spicy noodles. "The white space we found was that Asian American stories and flavors are taking America by storm," Omsom co-founder and CEO Vanessa Pham told Yahoo Finance for the season two premiere of Lead This Way. "But when you walk into the mainstream grocery store and you look at the shelf, it is not ... up to par with what you're seeing in restaurants and even in movie theaters." Pham and her sister Kim P. originally came up with the idea while hiking in Bolivia in 2018. The duo juggled building the idea on nights and weekends while continuing their careers in finance. "As a daughter of Vietnamese refugees, I think I was on a safe path. I just wanted to do right by my parents' sacrifices and refugee journey," Pham said. She was leaning into the idea of "de-risking," but felt like she wasn't honoring her potential. By 2019, the two sisters quit their jobs to work full-time on Omsom, bootstrapping the business for the first year. More on Omsom here: https://yhoo.it/3vde02c #yahoofinance #finance #food #business
