The James River Watch Progam is monitoring the water quality of the James River! They're not only tracking where bacteria is coming from, but also doing testing with HRSD. "The James once was considered one of the most polluted rivers in the country, and swimming and fishing there was severely limited. Today, following years of tougher regulations and cleanup efforts, the James River Watch program works to ensure the public has access to information about the water bacteria levels." - The Virginian Pilot 🔗https://ow.ly/Pgec50SpVsl

DYK: Most streams and rivers in Oregon are overallocated: the water rights given out far exceed the available water. This is especially apparent in summer, when water levels are low and demand is high, and our best climate forecasts tell us that this imbalance will continue to get worse. To start to address this problem, TNC is collaborating with the Oregon Water Resources Department to implement the state’s first-ever Groundwater Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program in the Harney Basin—a voluntary program for water users to be compensated in return for using less. The program could save enough water to fill 25,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools each year. 📷 : Zach Freed/TNC

Did you know? Waterproofing swimming pools is crucial for several reasons: Preventing Leaks: A well-waterproofed pool helps prevent leaks that can lead to water loss, structural damage, and increased maintenance costs. Maintaining Water Quality: Waterproofing helps to keep the pool water clean and free from contaminants by preventing water infiltration from the surrounding soil or groundwater. Protecting the Pool Structure: Waterproofing protects the pool's structural integrity by preventing moisture from damaging the concrete or other materials used in the pool's construction. Safety: A leaky pool can create safety hazards, such as slippery surfaces or the risk of electric shock. Waterproofing can help eliminate these risks. Good morning everyone, I continue to be registered to use the CL31 Water Vole Developers Class Licence. 😁🐀🐓🦇 This licence allows them who are registered on the licence, to undertake displacement UP TO a 50m length of watercourse. Displacement means making habitats unsuitable within the works area, to encourage water vole to move to suitable adjacent habitat. We can undertake displacement in the spring (Feb 15 - April 15) and autumn (Sept 15 - Oct 31). It is key that you design your surveys to assess the suitability of habitats on site and in the wider area so you can fully assess the risk of water vole presence and what mitigation options you have. You should always look for areas where you can improve the habitat as well. A choked watercourse can often be a good candidate for improvement, with the creation of open water which increases the carrying capacity for water vole and other wildlife. Happy Spring

Our team are all about practical action. We ask questions, listen carefully, hatch a plan and then we're tenacious. We're not aiming for perfection, we're focussed on progress. And today is a good day... 😡 People are fed up with sewage releases in to the ocean. We are too. People are frustrated with the lack of transparency from water companies about sewage discharges. We are too. 🏊♀️ We want to ensure people who use the sea can make informed decisions about whether or not to go in, based on reliable, up-to-date information. 🌊 We've launched 2 solar-powered, electronic water quality, sewage warning signs along Eastney esplanade in Southsea. 💧 The signs use data from the Surfers Against Sewage online map, which tracks storm overflow releases across the UK. Portsmouth City Council will update the signs daily, live between 6am-8pm, over the summer. 🥅 We will achieve our collective goal when the day comes that signs like these are no longer required...but until then, this is progress...trustworthy progress that will help keep people safe and will be useful for holding those responsible for sewage releases into the ocean accountable. There is no hiding! We are all watching. #Swimming #WaterQuality #Portsmouth #StopSewage #Beach

In October 2023, we applied OmniGrip CST to a pontoon to provide a durable slip-resistant safety message, on behalf of the Queensland Department of Environment and Science's Crocwise team. In January 2024, the pontoon was washed away in devastating floods, following an unprecedented rainfall event post Tropical Cyclone Jasper. A Department helicopter found the pontoon 6-7km away, beached in Weary Bay. The vital safety message appears intact despite its journey to sea and subsequent beaching. Scroll through the pictures to see what happened. 1. Completed pontoon in October 2023 2. Wreckage of pontoon site, post flooding (Source: Cape York Weekly) 3. and 4. Images of beached pontoon (Source: Crocwise) We hope that the people of Queensland recover from the impact of the flood and we look forward to the pontoon being recovered, to again remind boaters, fishers and tourists of the risk of crocodiles. Give us a call if you need durable surfacing and safety messages at your pier, jetty, pontoon, dock or boat ramp! We proudly use Australian recycled-glass to deliver durable long-life safety surfaces. #workplacesafety #publicsafety #pavementmarking #recycledglass #marinesafety #boating #marineconstruction

While the snow level in the Sierra Nevada is so far disappointing at about 25% of the state’s average for this time of year and the worst start to a wet year in a decade, reservoirs across the state are above average at about 116%. Down in San Diego County, due to last year's storms and county water entities and ratepayers investing billions in infrastructure over the years, their reservoirs have 50% more water this year than they did last year.

The JET Filter system plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of inland waterways and lake structures by efficiently relieving hydrostatic pressure, which can cause significant damage over time. By allowing water to flow through while preventing soil erosion, this innovative solution protects the infrastructure and ensures the longevity of these essential water bodies. #HydrostaticPressure #WaterManagement #JETFilterSystem #InfrastructureProtection #ErosionControl #LakeStructures #InlandWaterways #SustainableSolutions #EnvironmentalEngineering
