Thanks to the generous support of our community, Boss Women Matter (BWM) Round Table Talks have become a vital resource for Black women founders in Chicagoland. These open dialogues are a lifeline for Black women founders and serve as a cornerstone for community building, policy advocacy, and capacity building. While substantial progress has been made, the journey to economic equality for Black women founders remains challenging. Despite persistent systemic funding disparities to underrepresentation, our expanding community of founders is steadfast in their commitment to overcoming these barriers and creating a more equitable economic landscape. Never before has our work been more critical. By dismantling these obstacles, we not only empower individuals but also uplift entire communities. Each Black woman founder supported is a beacon of hope, illuminating a brighter future for us all. So today we invite you to make an impact with a powerful statement of support. Your contribution will not only help us expand our Round Table Talks, but provide mentorship, and advocate for policies. Together, we can empower the next generation of Black women entrepreneurial leaders. Will you join us in creating a brighter future? Social media…in person? Networking in person has something that online networking doesn’t: warmth and the ability to perceive the humanity behind the businesswoman (or man). That being said, utilizing social media for networking is equally valuable and allows you to expand your reach. Do both and do them both better. #womensupportingwomen #womenownedbusinesss

I come from an industry that is predominantly powered by #women However, even today, most industries are dominated by men. In 2022, #data collected from the International Labour Organization concluded that, out of 180 countries - the #unitedstates ranks number 71 for % of women in the workforce. The percentage of women in the #workforce in the U.S is 46.38% Women remain #underrepresented at all levels, in most industries. However, know that when you call 9-1-1 it’s likely that the #hero under the headset is a #strong , #brave , #courageous #female According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report in 2021 - 74% if 911 operators are women. “People need to see leaders who look like themselves, to understand that it’s possible for them.” Happy #womenshistorymonth #womenempowerment #womenchangemakers #genderequality #911dispatch #911dispatcher #dispatchers #publicsafety #publicsector #everydayheroes

Proud dad alert - wonderful podcast on the journey of four women in finance!
As Women’s History Month comes to a close, I’m honored to share a very special Cannon Curve that spotlights some of the women pioneering the financial industry. I’m joined by Jennie Karrels Menzie Menzie, CEO and President of Cumberland Trust, Elizabeth Rodgers, President of Synovus Trust, Emily Dye, Trust Officer at Cumberland Trust, and Anne Douglass Williams, Relationship Manager at Synovus Trust. The dynamic of this group of women is refreshing, and each brings their personal journeys, insights, and fresh perspectives, as well as their experiences, challenges, and the importance of mentorship to the conversation. I can’t wait for you to hear our conversation. https://lnkd.in/g7U_FYCt

Women’s month is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate women in our lives. But we could do so much more… the real conversations need to start in our own homes and our workplaces. In what ways are we daily advocating for women? In what ways are making room for them to be heard and celebrated? In what ways do we intentionally set women up for wins? Women should not have to wait for August to feel celebrated. Our campaigns and events about protecting, standing up for and standing with women should not be a facade to please or impress the crowd, this should be a genuine desire to see women win at home and at the workplace. Women are role models, prayer warriors, and leaders to many people in their communities and circles. Personally, women have had the greatest impact on my life— their resilience to keep dreaming even though the odds are against them, the tenacity to keep going when it could be easy to quit, the audacity to serve even when not appreciated, the miracle of carrying life and raising children, the power to love, to work, and to enjoy life. The drive to honor and vouch for women should not stop when the month of August ends. It should be an ongoing pursuit… 💛
