And you never know who you're going to run into… Which means...your appearance still matters! For that reason, stocking your wardrobe with comfortable / casual clothes that actually look presentable should always be the goal. Dressing well requires you to have nice attire. Easy, right? Seems like it… Although most men's default wardrobes can use a bit of an upgrade. Here are few casual mainstays to have in your casual wardrobe to ensure you always look sharp: ✅ 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 Jeans are great! (especially dark, well-fitting jeans) but you’ll want to have chinos as well, which are a little less formal and more used during spring and summer—jeans, a little less so than chinos and typically used year round. ✅ 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 We definitely want a nice jacket, particularly a harrington style. This is one of my favorite jackets of all time because it just works so handsome-ly into any casual outfit. (obviously, you’ll only wear this if the weather is requiring a jacket) ✅ 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭 Opt for wearing a polo shirt unless you know for a fact the weather will be cooler. No matter what though, make sure it fits like a glove or the whole outfit is destroyed. I often hear from my clients that they are uncomfortable showing certain parts of their bodies, such as their arms, legs, or knees. I always inform them that there is a solution to this issue, and they just have to be creative with their wardrobe. This process of finding unique solutions can be empowering, allowing you to take control of your fashion choices. For instance, let's say you love a dress but feel frustrated that you can't wear it because you always need to wear a bra and don't want to waste your time wearing a strapless bra. Or maybe you prefer to have a sleeve or cap sleeve because you're not happy with your arms. I created a solution in the image below, coordinating a dark denim vest with ruffle sleeves over this dress. This allows you to wear a bra and cover your shoulder while keeping the outfit perfect for a warm summer day. This outfit not only keeps you cool on hot summer days but also provides a sense of comfort and reassurance, giving you a more refined look. The dark denim with the bright orange looks sleek, and the short sleeves still cover your shoulders, so you won't feel exposed. Remember, there's always a solution to work around any issue. Even when you find an outfit that you love but think won't work for you, think outside the box and keep an open mind. Sometimes, the solution might not be perfect, but with a little creativity, you can make it work. It will keep you cool on hot summer days and give you a more refined look.
