“’Improved margins and secular drivers, such as technological and healthcare innovation, should support US earnings growth. In Asia, we expect Japanese equities to further outperform due to the reflation trend and corporate governance reforms. With an upgrade in Japanese equities and a more bullish view on the US, we upgrade global equities to overweight,” shares Willem Sels , Global Chief Investment Officer, HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth. “Bonds remain in favour amid a disinflationary environment, falling real yields and increased geopolitical risks. They are still in demand for income generation and diversification benefits.” Read March Investment Monthly in 1 Min: https://grp.hsbc/6044XefDq #HSBC #IMin1min #WealthInsights #CIO #InvestmentMonthly

More on MSCI / China - two spaces to watch are real estate for distressed private equity (LCY) and banking sector, for potential entry points. "China is embarking on the biggest consolidation of its banking industry by merging hundreds of rural lenders into regional giants amid growing signs of financial stress. After engineering mergers of rural cooperatives and rural commercial banks in at least seven provinces since 2022, policymakers look to tackle risks in the $6.7 trillion sector this year. That means another wave of consolidation is on the way across the nation. “It’s where risks are the most concentrated among smaller financial institutions, so China is pushing the reform at a faster pace,” said Liu Xiaochun, deputy director of think-tank Shanghai Finance Institute."

Strategic Insights from HSBC’s CIO for Southeast Asia and India, Global Private Banking and Wealth: James Cheo on Navigating Global Investment Markets Hubbis recently enjoyed an insightful and informative discussion with James Cheo, CFA, CAIA, FRM, the Singapore-based Chief Investment Officer, SE #Asia and #India, for HSBC Global Private Banking & HSBC Wealth. James shed light on the nuances of investor psychology amidst fluctuating interest rates in the US and Europe, provided strategic insights into current investment opportunities in bond and equity markets, and evaluated the long-term implications of technological advances such as artificial intelligence on global economies and markets. He advocated that investors take a longer-term portfolio formation view and shift from cash to investments, promoting the 50/50 or 60/40 portfolio, with fixed income compelling in light of rates that should gradually fall (albeit perhaps not imminently), and with equities high in the US but still present opportunities, especially related to AI, and with buying opportunities emerging at times of weakness amidst ongoing volatility. He also pointed to the merits of alternative and private assets as valuable mid to long-term diversification opportunities. His overall advice was that investors should pursue smart, balanced strategies amid the complex global financial landscape, crafting portfolios that are resilient and responsive to both current trends and potential future shifts.
