Valve corporation, the creator of the Counter-Strike franchise, has announced new regulations for CS2 competitive events starting in 2025. 🏆
Valve's primary goal is to streamline the CS2 ecosystem and ensure Counter-Strike remains an open sport where teams are limited only by their skills.
The changes include adjustments to the number of directly invited teams, deadlines for tournament announcements, and defining events based on official Valve rankings.

All CS2 events will be either ranked or unranked, with ranked events leading to Major invitations. Unranked tournaments will have prize limits of $100,000 per event and $250,000 annually per organizer.
Notably, Valve has formally defined "Tier" events. Tier 1 organizers must invite at least 16 top-ranked regional teams, ensuring top teams compete.
Wildcard slots and specific event requirements are also introduced, along with advanced announcement deadlines to stabilize the event calendar.
What’s your take on Valve’s new regulations for CS2? How do you think they will impact the competitive scene?
