🚫 I turned down a HUGE client. Here’s why… This brand was going to pay us to run all advertising channels for them for a year! Upon onboarding, the client made it clear: no promos or offers. ❌ Now.. this wasn't a brand with a ton of credibility or returning customers.. this was essentially a new brand! I quickly realized their CPG product was priced at almost 2x their competitors' due to its “luxury” nature. Now, I understand luxury brands can thrive without heavy discounts, but not offering any first-time customer incentives at that price point? 🚩 That was the first red flag in our eyes. We love a challenge 💪, so we decided to move forward. We came up with a strategy to optimize their homepage and product pages. The goal? Not only a plan to boost their conversion rate but also help potential customers understand why their products were worth the higher price (by highlighting USPs 🌟). But once again, the client said, “No changes to the website.” 🛑 At that point, I had to make the tough decision to turn down the partnership respectfully. Why? Because at my agency, we know what it takes to scale a DTC brand, which requires more than great products. It requires rapid testing, creative problem-solving, smart risk-taking and a willingness to pivot when needed. 📈 If a brand isn’t open to testing and evolving, it’s nearly impossible to deliver the growth they want. With over 200+ stores under our belt, we’ve learned that partnerships like this tend to stress out the team more than they reward us. Avoid these 4 Brand Killers to Scale in 2024... and beyond. Over the last few years working with DTC brands, there are the same four “brand killers” that we constantly fight. If you shy away from them, you will drain cash and come to your demise. (Kind of dramatic, but also kind of true) So here they are: There are four main problems that 99% of e-commerce brands face. Customer Acquisition Costs Retention and Loyalty Conversion Rate Market Expansion Bonus: Themselves (can't focus, poor hires, bad agency partners, inconsistency) And guess what? No matter how large or small your brand is, you constantly battle these killers. The 8-figure brands we work with battles these. The 6-figure brands we work with battles these. It never stops. It’s like a monster- Once you cut one head off, two more grow back. If you cannot manage your CAC, achieving scale is a nightmare. If you cannot retain a customer, you better have frontend profitability and will stay in a hamster wheel. If your site does not convert, you waste advertising dollars. If you cannot expand into other channels, when one channel fails, you fail. Lastly- If you let ego get in your way, you cannot face the realities of these killers.
