U.S Army testing IVAS Augmented Reality System The U.S. Army is in the final stages of testing an advanced #AR device known as the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS). This device, set to become widely adopted in 2025, represents a significant advancement in #military technology. Originally developed from Microsoft's HoloLens, the IVAS is a helmet-mounted system designed to enhance soldiers' abilities in shooting, navigation, and tactical operations. It combines night vision, thermal imaging, and a heads-up display, enabling soldiers to see through obstacles like fog or dust and even navigate 3D maps of the terrain. A standout feature of the IVAS is its ability to link wirelessly to a weapon sight, which allows soldiers to safely shoot from cover using a weapon-mounted camera display. #Army
