📱Farewell to 3G: Reflecting on a Telecom Milestone📱 Yesterday, Harri Holma, Nokia Bell Labs Fellow, announced the closure of the last #3G network in #Helsinki. Harri's #WCDMA book, co-authored with Antti Toskala, was essential reading—the “bible” for the #telecom industry on designing and deploying #3G networks. I remember organizing user-group sessions in Helsinki, where my Telefónica’s customers would bring their well-used copies for Harri’s autograph after his presentation. This book, along with the #GSM bible by Mouly and Pautet, has accompanied me across three transatlantic moves—a testament to their lasting impact. #Mobile networks have transformed over the past three decades, but with advancements in #AI and #quantum communications, the next 30 years promise to bring even more revolutionary changes.
