The 2024 RISC-V Taipei Day was held along with DVCon Taiwan 2024 from September 10 - 11. The event featured speakers representing local and international industry experts who shared their insights on the trends and developments of #RISCV over the years. One of the speakers was Professor Tien-Fu Chen, Vice Chair / SIG Convener of RISC-V Taiwan Alliance. He discussed RISC-V Taiwan Alliance's research on LLMs, focusing on transitioning AI from "big data" to "big models". Efforts include creating energy-efficient, small-scale LLMs for edge computing, knowledge assistants from public datasets, product comparison tools, and automated test case generation. Future advancements aim at integrating modular AI agents for decision-driven, high-performance systems, marking a shift from text-based AI to state-driven AI workflows. In the hyper-dynamic and fiercely competitive telecommunications industry, telecom service providers (TSPs) are at the forefront of technological evolution. The ongoing transition from traditional connectivity models to the digital connectivity era has necessitated a strategic reevaluation of TSPs' roles and capabilities. Amidst this backdrop, the emergence of Generative AI (Gen AI) stands out as a transformative force, presenting TSPs with unparalleled opportunities for innovation and growth. In this paper Rajat Sharma dives deep into the complexities of this evolving market, exploring how Gen AI can be harnessed across critical facets of TSP operations to enhance existing services and develop innovative revenue streams.

IEEE Computer's special issue on AI Failures published last month saw a lot of interest. We kept receiving submissions even after the deadline. With the success of that volume, we have decided to bring out a follow up special issue on AI Failures: Causes, Implications, and Prevention. The submission is due on Mar 17, 2025. The CFP link is on the first comment.

Evolving our networks toward decentralization is imperative. Decentralization is more resilient to a vast array of threats and vulnerabilities. It disempowers centralized data management and AI monopolies and enables data dignity and sovereignty for stakeholders. It alleviates the need to build massive data centers and can distribute energy requirements for the network. I have proposed the development of a new #CivilOS that supports circular economies and the analysis and planning tools we are building for this kind of adaptation. The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) has selected seven proposals to establish and operate the first AI Factories across Europe. This is a major milestone for Europe in building a thriving ecosystem to train advanced AI models and develop AI solutions. The EU is now one step closer to realising President Ursula von der Leyen's commitment to setting up the first AI Factories. The first AI Factories will represent a €1.5 billion investment, combining national and EU funding. Half of this amount will be funded by the EU through the Digital Europe Programme for AI infrastructure and Horizon Europe for AIF services. One of them comes from Greece: “Pharos” at GRNET - Greek Research & Technology Network. The selected AI Factories will be hosted at leading research and technology hubs across Europe: Barcelona, Spain: “BSC AIF” at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre Bologna, Italy: “IT4LIA” at CINECA - Bologna Tecnopolo Kajaani, Finland: “LUMI AIF” at CSC Bissen, Luxembourg: “Meluxina-AI” at LuxProvide Linköping, Sweden: “MIMER” at the University of Linköping Stuttgart, Germany: “HammerHAI” at the University of Stuttgart Athens, Greece: “Pharos” at GRNET https://lnkd.in/eQ4iJBSP

Alpha from the #MITDecentralizedSummit: • Dell, Intel, and other PC hardware companies see potential in specialized small models for on-device deployment—no single ‘GOD model’ for everything. • Many projects view blockchain as the only practical trust mechanism for decentralized AI. • Strong focus on keeping model and data ownership private, sharing only wisdom with the network. Seeing more and more KOLs and industry leaders betting on on-device AI strengthens the trend toward AI decentralization. #AITrends
Thrilled that Fortytwo has been selected by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to participate in the MIT Decentralized AI Summit. I couldn’t imagine a more iconic venue to present our latest research to peers in the DeAI space.
