Interesting text that advocates for a shift towards a heterogeneous network (hetnet) environment, integrating cellular, Wi-Fi, and satellite networks to ensure consistent, cost-effective coverage, especially in underserved areas. It suggests major structural changes to network operations, proposing that networks primarily act as internet conduits. A "multi-network coordinator" would manage connectivity across these varied networks, improving coverage, reducing costs, and increasing reliability. This approach requires significant organizational changes and possibly a new standards body. It aligns more with consumer needs and sustainable industry growth than advancing technological complexity.

The indicated L4S Technology to be implemented by T-Mobile as part of their 5G Advanced deployment launch indicated in the article, there is added in the Comment section info on 1: L4S as specified by 3GPP as part of their 5G Advanced Release(s) & 2: Summary of the specified 5G Advanced Release Work Items of the Feature Functionalities (to facilitate for the readers/audience understanding on the Subjects of L4S & 5G Advanced Release(s). Even though, it is indicated that the 5G Advanced launch would be a Network SW-upgrade, no information is provided about who the Vendor of the (5G Advanced Release) SW is and the Level of Compliance/Conformity to the 3GPP Rel-18. In summary: 5G-Advanced will be a Software update to a 5G Stand-alone (5G SA) Network. The upgrade, enabled by the 3GPP Release 18 5G-Advanced specification, will start to come online by the end of the year (2024), T-Mobile said. The Service will offer Features such as improved Spectral Efficiency & Enhanced Positioning.... introducing a Technology called L4S,” (that) stands for "Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable throughput“. It’s a Video Priority Technology that creates a better Video Experience for different Applications,”. During conditions of Network Congestion, “there is Signaling going from the Network to the App that tells it to slow down the bit-rates to adapt to the conditions, so you always get optimal rates through for whatever Video you’re watching,”

Interesting analysis by Ericsson on 6G use cases. While 5G can already accommodate a much wider range of use cases than 4G, many of these have been slow to develop—apart from fixed wireless access. Operators will need clear and convincing business opportunities to justify a costly 6G upgrade anticipated at the end of this decade. https://lnkd.in/gf9wrRF6
