The current networking protocols and architectures are insufficient for the demands of a multi-cloud and AI world. There is a pressing need for a cloud-first, cloud-triggered and cloud-networked internet. AI industrialization, which includes training, inference and reinforcement, requires massive GPU resources and significant bandwidth. Enterprises must adopt cloud-first strategies to stay competitive now and in the future, including: Adopt cloud-first approach: Run IT operations out of the cloud to meet employee and customer demands. Cloud-triggered and cloud-networked internet: Design network architecture to support multi-cloud and AI environments. AI strategy integration: Integrate cloud and data center partner strategies, data strategies and network strategies for effective AI implementation. Bandwidth management: Ensure adequate bandwidth to support AI workloads and avoid performance bottlenecks. Fiber infrastructure: Invest in fiber infrastructure to provide security, availability, low latency and capacity. Programmable optical switching: Implement managed programmable switched optical connectivity at a metro/regional level. Interconnectivity across layers: Emphasize interconnectivity across all layers for seamless integration and scalability.
