📢 The 3G network in Australia is shutting down on August 31st, 2024. Although this is a crucial step for better connectivity, some devices might need an upgrade. Here's what you need to know to not be left behind: 📱 Make sure your device supports VoLTE emergency calling (check with Telstra , Optus , or Vodafone ). 🔄 If your device is 3G-only, doesn't support VoLTE for emergency calls, or uses 3G for emergency calls, upgrade before August 31st. 🩺This also affects medical devices and other hardware on the 3G network. ✅ Double-check settings and contact your provider if you have questions. From September 2024, we'll be switching off our 3G technology. To make the transition from 3G as easy as possible, Optus customers can now check whether their devices are impacted by texting the number ‘3’ to 3498.   We are also directly contacting customers whose devices are impacted. If you receive an email, letter, or SMS from us, you will need a new device to stay connected.   This change will primarily impact 3G devices, plus some 4G devices including models that may have been purchased overseas or imported which aren’t configured for Australian networks or do not support 4G VoLTE.   If you’re currently using a personal medical device, security device or embedded network device that relies on the 3G network, it will stop working from September 2024. We recommend you urgently check with the device manufacturer and upgrade your affected device (with Optus or another provider) as soon as possible.
