I'm thrilled to share UNCF's latest milestone in strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In partnership with PGIM and Prudential, we've released a pivotal study titled "Investing in Change: A Call to Action for Strengthening Private HBCU Endowments." The report sheds light on the unique challenges private HBCUs face and highlights crucial areas where they need support, such as enhancing investment management capabilities and diversifying endowment portfolios. UNCF is actively engaging in initiatives that directly address these needs, including our groundbreaking $1 billion campaign, which includes a significant portion dedicated to a pooled endowment fund. This innovative approach allows our 37 member HBCUs to benefit from economies of scale in investment and leads to potentially higher returns and more robust financial stability. Our concerted effort to build stronger endowments for HBCUs directly responds to the challenges outlined in the "Investing in Change" report. It represents a critical step towards bridging the financial gaps that have long impacted these vital institutions.
