The iterative process behind the OC was defined by collaboration. Instead of working separately with each workgroup—architecture, engineering, construction, curriculum—the design team behind the OC brought everyone into the same room, focusing on one component per session. The project was constantly evaluated through both micro and macro views to ensure decisions were informed by its requirements and constraints. Through the main entrance at Weatherford College’s new Emerging Technologies and Workforce Building, a glazed three-story commons flows toward the instructional spaces, including a cosmetology lab that’s open for public patronage and labs for welding, computer numerical control, industrial materials and technologies, and HVAC servicing.
