I love my job I get to meet so many people in a variety of industries in #winnipeg Today I was talking to accountants in the AM and funeral home directors in the PM! What do you think is the one thing they have in common? In fact its the number one thing on the minds of every business I do work for: Recruitment and Retention It doesn't matter what field I am talking to, they all say the same thing, it's hard to find good people and keep them. What is going on? Is this the "new normal" Is it a generational thing? Or is there sweeping change in how we conduct business? I am curious to hear what your thoughts are. What's your North Star? The real North Star, Polaris, has been used for centuries to guide wayward travelers to their destination. If lost in the middle of the night, you can find Polaris and know which direction you are moving. Do you have a personal North Star? Do you have a goal that guides your decisions and leads you to the person you ultimately want to be? My North Star is being the best possible husband and father I can be for my family. When I find myself lost in this world, I look to my personal Polaris and let it guide my decision. I ask myself; "would this action make my family proud, or me a better man?" If the answer is no, I course correct. If the answer is yes, I understand what needs to be done and work towards that end. But it takes work, and reflection to make these decisions. And you won't always make the right decision. But if you look to your North Star in times of hopelessness, or confusion, or uncertainty; I think you'll find you make the right choice more often than not. #North #Polaris #dads #health #bettereveryday

I just had to share this meaningful quote! If you ask people who are dying what they regret most, it's probably interpersonal relationships they didn't nurture or opportunities they didn't take. With this in mind: let's make 2024 our year! So: write down your New Year's resolutions to review them at the end of the year. Various studies show a clear gap between people who set themselves clear goals and make a concrete plan compared to people with an "I'll see what happens" mentality. But alongside this success, it is important to remember that one of the longest Harvard studies and other international long-term studies found that one single factor is clearly the most important for happiness: good relationships. This does not necessarily only mean relationships between couples, but also friendships, family, colleagues, neighborhood relationships or chance encounters.
