This is warning to people who are thirsting to shed blood, people who are willing to kill either spiritual or physical or any other means. Genesis 9:6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.” Before the Flood, the earth had been filled with evil, corruption and violence (Genesis 6:5, 11). The Bible specifically describes murders committed by Cain and Lamech (Genesis 4:8, 23) as early examples of this violent trend. After the Flood, God reinforced the value of human life in His instructions to Noah and his sons. Even the blood of animals was important. It was not to be eaten as it was the essence of life (Genesis 9:4). Much more so, human blood and human life are precious to God, since man of all the creatures was made in the very image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). In His justice, God established the death penalty for murder, further reinforcing the gravity of this terrible crime. 🧐Did you know In 1863, during the Civil War, there was a concentration camp in Natchez, Mississippi for free slaves called The Devil's Punchbowl. The Devil's Punchbowl was a 20-acre camp with a 25-foot high wooden fence surrounding it. The freedmen who were imprisoned there were subjected to overcrowding, malnutrition, and lack of proper sanitation. Many of them died from disease and starvation, and it is estimated that the mortality rate at the camp was as high as 20%. The existence of The Devil's Punchbowl is a dark and often overlooked part of American history. It serves as a reminder of the horrors that free slaves endured even after they were emancipated. It is important to remember and acknowledge the suffering of those who were forced to endure such inhumane conditions. As we continue to learn about and confront the injustices of the past, let us also work towards creating a more just and equitable future for all. We must strive to educate ourselves and others about the lesser-known aspects of history, in order to ensure that they are never repeated. Let us use this knowledge to reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where all people are treated with dignity and respect, and where the atrocities of the past are never forgotten. #policychange #civicengagement

Family Matters Make every effort to live in peace with everyone. Hebrews 12:14 Today's Scripture and Insight: Hebrews 12:14–17 In God’s family, the church, we can grow apart as well. We might allow bitterness to separate us from each other. The writer of Hebrews references the bitterness that separated Esau from his brother (Hebrews 12:16) and challenges us as brothers and sisters to hold on to each other in God’s family. “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone” (v. 14). Here, every effort conveys a deliberate and decisive investment in peacemaking with our brothers and sisters in God’s family. Every such effort is then applied to everyone. Every. One. Family matters. Both our earthly families and God’s family of believers. Might we all invest the effort needed to hold on to each other? The church is not something you go to; it's a family you belong to.

We Are Twice Armed If We Fight with Faith-Plato In the face of landslides, soil erosion, and floodwaters wreaking havoc upon Davao Region due to the trough of a Low-Pressure Area, let us echo the words of Plato: "We are twice armed if we fight with faith." In confronting these challenges, let our faith be a resilient shield, fortified by trust in God and each other. Amidst the turmoil, it is paramount to rise above the waters with unwavering faith, not only in divine providence but also in our collective strength. Together, let us stand resolute, unified in our efforts to overcome adversity. In these trying times, let us not succumb to the pointless mudslinging orchestrated by sore loser politicians. Instead, recognize the tireless commitment of sitting officials who are diligently addressing the needs of affected families. Through faith in one another and a shared dedication to the greater good, we can navigate these troubled waters and emerge stronger as a community.
