Unconventional architecture requires unique formwork concepts, posing a challenge that we gladly accepted, with the construction of the tallest building in Germany used exclusively for residential purposes: the Grand Tower in Frankfurt am Main. 🏢 🏗️ The construction of the 180-metre high building brought with it a multitude of challenges. For example, the ambitious, diamond-shaped floor plan changes from storey to storey. Instead of repeating the layout of the flats on each floor and placing the flat entrances one above the other, the architects opted for different floor plans that alternate according to a predefined pattern. The solution provided by our formwork experts: The building core was constructed independently of the residential units with their varying floor plans. Thanks to precise and customised planning, the project was completed on time and on budget. 🎯 #moresafety #moreproductivity #AtWorkForYou #Hünnebeck

In pre-engineered buildings, joists are the hidden heroes. These horizontal steel beams act like mini bridges, spanning between walls or larger beams to support floors, ceilings, and roofs. They carry the weight, ensuring everything stays level and stable #PreEngineeredBuildings #Construction #StructuralEngineering #BuildingDesign #Joist #SteelBeams #Architecture #BuildingSolutions #ConstructionInnovation #StructuralSupport #EngineeringExcellence #ModernConstruction #BuildingMaterials

Hollow Metal Balconies Compartmentation A common but often overlooked detail in facade design is the fire risk posed by hollow steel balconies that span across dwelling units. 🔥 Without proper compartmentation, fire and smoke can spread horizontally within these cavities—much like they do in rain-screen cladding systems. While installing mineral wool cavity barriers may not be practical, stainless steel trays are a highly effective solution for compartmentation. ✅ Don’t compromise on fire safety! 🔒 Watch the full tutorial on the IAST YouTube channel for more insights. www.fioranese.it DOT BY ANDREA MAFFEI DOT is Andrea Maffei’s interpretation of concrete, for him the material which best defines modern architecture. These concrete-effect tiles are inspired by a particularly “rich” architectural cement, used by some of the great names in contemporary architecture to construct and transform spaces. In fact, the distinctive feature of this exposed concrete is the DOT, that is the point left by the matrix on concrete, creating a geometric pattern on the entire surface. DOT makes a common material such as concrete accessible to everyone, which however is rarely found in standard buildings with similar architectural features and precious characteristics. All environments will find a new material and a new light with DOT concrete-effect tiles.

As timber specialists, we often collaborate with architectural firms in both consulting and subcontracting roles. We've heard from architects that they sometimes struggle with integrating mass timber instead of traditional materials like steel and concrete, due to challenges in finding measurable specifications. Often, timber is used as an aesthetic afterthought to wrap columns or incorporate box beams, which unnecessarily doubles the cost of materials and labor. Similarly, traditional stick-framed buildings may include additional faux trusses, again increasing resource and labor costs. Many view timber as a premium option but overlook the significant cost savings it can bring to a project's final budget. If this resonates with you, we should talk!
The architecture and construction industries are buzzing with new ways to use timber in larger and taller buildings. "Mass Timber" offers faster construction, lighter foundations, more attractive spaces, and higher lease rates. Simple innovations in wood are bringing heavy timber back to the forefront of modern design. Check out this article to learn more! https://lnkd.in/eryhbdQX
