Huff Powell Bailey Managing Partner Taylor Tribble, and Associates Jade Jordan and Brittany Griner obtained a defense verdict last week for a neurosurgeon in a Gwinnett County, Georgia medical malpractice trial. The case concerned a 77-year-old female patient who presented to the ER with complaints of lower extremity paralysis after receiving a steroid injection in her thoracic spine earlier in the day. Plaintiffs alleged that the defendant neurosurgeon failed to intervene with surgery in a limited 12-hour window to prevent functional paralysis and ultimately the death of the patient. The jury returned a defense verdict for the neurosurgeon and the co-defendant emergency physician, represented by Spencer A. Bomar and Trisha Godsey with the firm McGrew Miller Bomar and Bagley.
