Today is Blue Monday*, supposedly the saddest day of the year. Lots of us feel a bit down as this time of year with the short days and lack of daylight - but not our Operations Manager Martin Samuels. Our whole team was thanked for their hard work last year with a Gift of Choice for Christmas, Martin chose a Lumie Sunrise Alarm. The alarms wake-up light that mimics sunrise and helps natural waking rather than the shock of a blaring siren to start the day 🌅 If you want your team to wake up in a happy, motivated mood and feel more appreciated you can explore our Lumie range here https://lnkd.in/ewMFRgna #employeeexperience #employeewellbeing #employeewellness #corporategifts #corporategifting *this was a concept created by a travel agent marketing team to encourage us to book holidays.

Blue Monday was created by holiday companies to try and make you buy from them. It doesn't actually exist as a thing. Except - here's the kicker. Because you see it mentioned everywhere, you start to focus on the things that you do feel less good about. You have validation for those feelings. When you do that, you tell your brain to focus on those things only - so it stops looking for the positive things. It filters them out. So you feel even worse. (Don't feel bad about this - it's how the human brain naturally works.) When you realise that it's a man-made "thing" and not real at all - there is no collective "everyone feels bad today" day - you can start to think about it differently. When you realise it was a marketing ploy created 30 or so years ago so you would buy shiny holidays for the summer - you can see it for what it is. Does that mean that nothing bad will happen today? Of course not! But good and bad things happen every single day. There's nothing special about today that makes it more bad than other days. So here's your permission to smile to yourself today - and consciously think about the positive things. Have a happy Monday.

Let's redefine 'Blue Monday'! While it's often labeled as the gloomiest day of the year, we believe every cloud has a silver lining. Yes, it might coincide with a time when holiday cheer has faded, and the routine has settled in, but it's also an opportunity for self-reflection and a reminder to infuse joy into our lives. January's third Monday need not be a pit of despair; it can be a canvas for resilience and renewal. Acknowledge those feelings, but let's not be defined by them. Instead, let's explore what brings warmth to our hearts and light to our days. Consider this a challenge – not to succumb to the blues, but to rise above them. What small joys can you incorporate into your day? A favorite playlist, a comforting cup of tea, or a walk in nature can be simple yet effective mood lifters. Let's flip the narrative on 'Blue Monday.' It's not about the darkness; it's about finding the light within. Share your go-to strategies for brightening a 'blue' day, and let's turn this day into a collective celebration of resilience, positivity, and self-care. 💙 #BlueMondayRevamped #PositivityChallenge #NewBeginnings #MindOverMood #SelfCareJourney #JoyfulLiving #MondayMotivation #PositiveVibesOnly #RiseAbove #InnerStrength #JanuaryReflections #EmbraceTheLight #InspirationEveryday #YouAreNotAlone

Blue Monday is not a problem Huh? Say what? It's dark outside. Christmas was so much fun, it's been too long. It's cold. Some of my new years resolutions already failed. I don't want to go to work. I feel depressed. 😭 What are you talking about? It''s #BlueMonday Of course it's a problem! 🤯 Well, not really. Here's why. 👇 Definition Problem = Subject + Deviation Deviation = not according to a norm Blue Monday is every year (usually the 3rd Monday of the year). And.. It's thought up in 2005 as a way to sell vacations. So Blue Monday is not a deviation from a norm, therefore, not a problem. Really? Yes, google it. Now, since it is not a problem, don't you feel better? To help you even more... Every day, you are 1 day closer to the happiest day. It's June 20th in no time. 🌞 #problemsolved #problemsolving #problemsolvingskills

🔵 The Dreadful Monday Blues 🔵 Feeling the Monday Blues is inevitable. We all feel it and not necessarily on Monday. It usually begins with Monday and slowly creeps into other days, making the entire week feel gloomy, sad, leaving us with a tint on loneliness. A lot of people to speak with, loads to complete at work, a whole lot of meetings, conferences, group discussions, and yet no one to speak with.... For all those moments felt, I would like you to take a pause and realize - Blue is an emotion and really, not a rigid one! Blue encompasses a wide range of emotions and associations, from calmness and clarity to optimism and achievement. Maybe, that is why so many companies use it as their logos - GE, Bank of America, Twitter, Visa, and even Infosys. So, next time you feel low, deep breath and: 1. Imagine the gentle rhythm of the calm blue ocean with its soft waves lapping against the shore. 2. Picture the expansive blue sky on a beautiful sunny day 3. Visualize the delicate blue forget-me-not flowers 4. Envision the cheerful sight of blue and white balloons decorating a baby shower, filled with joy, celebration, and anticipation of new beginnings. 5. Feel the comfort of slipping into your favorite pair of blue jeans, their familiar embrace providing a sense of familiarity, confidence, and ease. Take charge of the day and shine on :) Personally, I love the ocean blue. It keeps me calm and yet ignites a fire within to be limitless. Which is your favorite blue? PUT A BIT MORE COLOUR INTO YOUR BLUE MONDAY... ❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜🤎 The 3rd Monday in January has been know for the past few years as the 'Bluest' day of the year... After all the hype of Christmas and New Year, Payday still another week away and the Cold and Dark weather still lingering around its no wonder we all feel a bit BLUE. So to help raise your mindset on this chilling Monday... I thought I'd share with you some ideas on how to raise your mood and put a bit of colour back into your Monday. 1️⃣ WALKING - Despite the additional endorphins you’ll get from exercising, the fresh air and the beautiful surroundings is a great way to free your mind and give yourself some headspace... 2️⃣ LEGO - If you are like me and still a big kid at heart then building lego is the way to go, especially this recent build of Captain Americas Shield! It's a great way to get the creative and problem side of your brain active. 3️⃣ COFFEE BREAK - Taking regular breaks throughout your day is soooo important! Not just to hydrate and throw in a bit if sugar but it can also increase your productivity by allowing your brain some time to rest and recharge. 4️⃣ DRAWING - You don't need to be the best artist in the world, just pick up a pen or pencil and start to let you mind flow... this is my interpretation of Emma Grzonkowski's painting which I love. 5️⃣ CHOCOLATE TREAT - OK so I appreciate lots of people will be on their dreaded January diet, but chocolate has been know to release endorphins, just do it in moderation! 😉 6️⃣ READING - Whether it be a horror, crime, romance or simply a cartoon strip in the paper, reading helps the brain to imagine and visualise in ways that can help problem solving, communication and relationships. So what will you give yourself as a treat to help brighten up your day?? 🎵 New Order's: Blue Monday #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #bluemonday #suicideawareness #suicideprevention #letsgettalking

🌞 How to Turn Blue Monday into a Sunny Day 🌞 Blue Monday is supposedly the most gloomy day of the year. But who says it has to be? Firstly, hopefully the picture of my son winning player of the week at his 2nd football session, will bring a smile to your face. My two-year-old was beaming all weekend! Secondly, here are some easy and effective ways to brighten up your day and boost your performance so you can #LoveBlueMonday: 🌞 Do something fun: Do something that brings you joy, whether it’s a chat with a mate, a meal out, or watching your favourite show. Having something to look forward too will make your day more fun. 🌞 Pamper yourself: Whether it’s a sweet treat, a soothing soak, or some new clothes, spoil yourself with something that makes you feel good. You earned it. 🌞 Share your feelings: A burden shared is a burden lifted. Talk to someone you trust, or a professional, to vent your emotions. Remember; you are not alone. 🌞 Breathe some fresh air and move your body: It’s a well-known fact that physical activity is good for your body and mind. It releases endorphins, the happy hormones, and enhances your mood and energy levels. Plus, getting some fresh air and sunlight (which is rare in the U.K. at this time of year) can help you fight off the winter blues and increase your vitamin D levels. You got this!!!! #lifeatreed #positivemindset #bluemonday

Educator, linguist, marketer, proofreader, mentor, assessor, lifelong learner, supporting sustainability, lover of fun.
Today is Blue Monday - the day that's known to be the most depressing day of the year. After the Christmas festivities and merriment of December, January is associated with cold, bleak weather, a tightening of purse strings after the festive overspend, and healthy living after overindulgence. January can feel like a long and difficult month to get through and these pressures are said to peak on Blue Monday which can spark feelings of depression, sadness and low motivation. Some simple ways to beat the blues: Physical activity can be effective in lifting your mood – try cycling, walking or jogging. Get creative – perhaps try knitting, crocheting, crafting, adult colouring. Eat well – take Vitamin D and eat lots of fruit and veg and less chocolate and food high in fat and carbohydrates. Make the most of natural light – take regular work breaks, go for a walk at lunchtime. Change your environment – perhaps move near at window at work, or rearrange your home office.
