Hello, LinkedIn family! Ever noticed how some athletes effortlessly pivot from sports to business, while others find it a real struggle? A major culprit is often Performance-Based Identity. Helping fast growth companies WIN THE WAR FOR TALENT by building human centric cultures. SPEAKER | FACILITATOR | HOST
If you really knew me, you’d know… That back when I was deep into creating and playing in the Ladies Gridiron League and playing representative Touch Rugby, I had a whole roster of coaches. I’m talking about a sprint coach, a lifting coach, a strength and conditioning coach, an offense coach, and a defense coach. Each one focused on sharpening a different part of my game, pushing me to be the best I could be on that field. And it wasn’t just me. If you were a quarterback, you had a quarterback coach. If you were a receiver or a running back, you had a coach dedicated to making sure you could catch that ball under pressure or hit that gap with precision. These coaches weren’t just naturally talented players—they were people who had to work their asses off to master their craft. And that’s exactly what made them such great coaches. They understood the grind, the blood, sweat, and tears it took to go from good to unstoppable, and they knew how to teach others to achieve that greatness too. But here’s the thing—it wasn’t just football where I surrounded myself with coaches. At the same time, I had business coaches, life coaches, and mentors guiding me through every play in the game of life. But don’t just take my word for it, the video above is Eric Schmidt talking about how important it is to have a coach even as a successful CEO, a position where everyone often believes you need to know all the answers. I personally believe the higher we get in business the MORE we need a coach. Why? Because a coach sees what you can’t. When you’re too close to the action, it’s like trying to see the whole field when you’re stuck in the pocket—you just can’t get the full picture. Whether you’re unaware of the blind spots or simply too caught up in the play, a coach brings that sideline perspective. They’re like a shortcut to the end zone, helping you avoid the blitzes and sacks you might not even see coming. You don’t have to prove anything by doing it all alone. You don’t need to grind yourself into the ground thinking that the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. That’s a myth that’ll just leave you bruised and battered. If you’re noticing a gap in your skills or if you’re struggling to break through the defensive line of obstacles in your way, it’s time to find a coach or mentor who’s been in the game, who knows the plays, and can show you how to execute flawlessly. And if you’re looking for someone to help with your people and culture strategy so that you can scale your business sustainably, maybe it’s time you considered investing in a Scaling Up certified coach—like me. Because the smartest move you can make is recognizing when you need that extra set of eyes on the field—someone who’s just as committed to your victory as you are. #scalingup #businessleaders #everyoneneedsacoach Scaling Up Coaches https://lnkd.in/geFeqaGZ

In the realm of sports coaching, it's essential to recognize that we don't just coach footballers; we coach men and women who happen to play football. 🌟As a coach, I've always believed in the profound impact that understanding this distinction can have on our approach. Let's delve into why it matters and how it shapes our journey as coaches and leaders. 💪🧠1️⃣ Individuals First: Every player stepping onto the field brings a unique blend of experiences, talents, and aspirations. Recognizing this individuality is paramount. When we coach individuals, we acknowledge their distinct needs, strengths, and areas for growth. It's about fostering personal development alongside athletic prowess. 🌱2️⃣ Effective Communication: By understanding that we coach people who play football, we become more attuned to the power of effective communication. It's not just about tactics and strategy; it's about building relationships, trust, and a sense of belonging within the team. This creates an environment where players can thrive both personally and collectively. 🗣️🤝3️⃣ Empowerment: Coaching individuals empowers them to take ownership of their development. It encourages players to set personal goals, strive for excellence, and build resilience. When we see them as more than just footballers, we inspire them to become leaders on and off the pitch. 🚀🌟4️⃣ Life Skills: The lessons learned on the football field often extend far beyond the game itself. When we coach individuals, we equip them with life skills – teamwork, discipline, perseverance – that serve them well in all aspects of life. We're not just shaping athletes; we're shaping well-rounded individuals. 🌟🎓In essence, recognizing that we coach individuals who play football transforms coaching into a holistic journey. It's about empowering men and women to achieve their full potential, both as athletes and as human beings. 🌟⚽So, fellow coaches and aspiring leaders, let's continue to celebrate the individuals we guide, nurture their growth, and create a lasting impact that extends far beyond the boundaries of the beautiful game. 🌟👏 #CoachingIndividuals #LeadershipInSports #BeyondTheGame #EmpowerAthletes

Greatest Lesson I Learned from Phil Jackson, Coach to Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan! 🏀 The lesson that truly resonates with me is that EVERYONE needs a coach in order to unlock their full potential and achieve greatness in life. Just like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, who were already exceptional athletes, they recognized the importance of having a coach who could guide, inspire, and push them beyond their perceived limits. Phil Jackson played a crucial role in their journey towards becoming the incredible players they are remembered as today. A coach brings a fresh perspective, provides valuable feedback, and helps us navigate through challenges and setbacks. They push us to continually improve and grow, even when we might feel like we've reached our peak. A coach sees our potential and holds us accountable to take the necessary steps towards achieving our goals. Whether it's sports, business, personal development, or any aspect of life, having a coach can make a significant difference. They can offer guidance, expertise, and support to help us refine our skills, develop strategies, and overcome obstacles that may come our way. 🎯 Remember, seeking a coach does not imply weakness; it symbolizes the courage and commitment to continuous growth and improvement. Embracing the guidance and wisdom of a coach can lead us to unlock hidden talents, reach new heights, and create a lasting impact in our chosen fields. Share in the comments below your thoughts on the importance of having a coach in your life! Are there any particular coaches or mentors who have made a significant impact on your journey? #CoachingMatters #UnlockYourPotential #PhilJacksonLessons #Inspiration

Your responsibility as you get more successful: motivate freely, advise openly, coach selectively. MOTIVATION: At every point in my life, seeing more successful people around me has leveled me up. As a kid I took math classes with the kids a grade older, and I looked up to them in a big way. When I played JV basketball, the upperclassmen on varsity were heroes. When I was first starting my business, local entrepreneurs with a storefront and full time employees inspired me. You should be open with your life today because others can watch from a distance and challenge themselves personally to catch up. ADVICE: If you aren’t sharing your best practices publicly, why not? I try to post on here with every tip or trick that hits my self awareness, because I want to help as many people as possible. Will everyone else be able to replicate your results? Maybe not. Will they have the full story and all the context? No. But can you directionally help people? Absolutely. And you should do it openly. COACHING: Time is finite. You can advise openly, and that can attract a lot of people wanting one-on-one support. Mentorship. “Brain picking” lunches and coffees. Zoom calls. You can have a desire to help everyone, but you’ll never have the capacity to help everyone. So coach intensely, but selectively. Pick the people you are investing in helping, and make an impact. I focus on coaching my kids, my direct reports, my most ambitious employees, and a handful of entrepreneurs that I’m very invested in. That’s it, and I’m unapologetic for it, even if I have to turn down meeting requests. Do what you can. Motivate from afar, advise those leaning in, and coach where you can make the biggest impact. #timemanagement #coaching #motivation #success

The rise of coaches on LinkedIn lately has me wondering: Did I miss the memo about CoachingCon 2024? Life coaches, career coaches, leadership coaches, personality coaches – the list goes on. It’s like the Avengers assembled, but with more motivational quotes and fewer capes (although, capes would be kind of cool). So, what’s behind this coaching explosion? Was the need always lurking in the shadows, waiting for the coaching superheroes to emerge? Or perhaps, in this era of self-improvement and personal branding, people are more willing to invest in themselves. Because, let's be honest, who doesn't want to thrive rather than just survive? Maybe being a coach has become the new mainstream career. A decade ago, telling someone you were a coach might have raised an eyebrow or two. Now, it’s all about having a niche, a powerful LinkedIn presence, and a knack for asking the right questions. What do you think? Are we in the golden age of coaching? Or is this just a phase? Share your thoughts below – I promise I’ll coach myself to read every comment!

Producer @ Lockton | Helping clients take on risk with confidence | Passionate about delivering great experiences
Think back to your first coach. Maybe it was in sports, debate, or a music teacher. They pushed you, didn't they? Made you see your potential and strive for it. In business, the game isn't all that different. The stakes are high, the competition fierce, and the need for a solid game plan is critical. Yet, when it comes to seeking a coach to navigate this terrain, many hesitate. Having a good coach can be the linchpin to drive success. They bring out the mental toughness required to show up - for yourself, your team, and your clients. They help refine processes, encouraging continuous improvement and challenging not just the individual but the entire organization to rise. So, why should our professional journey be any different than our youth development? Let's shift the narrative. Employers and Employees embrace coaching in the business world with the same openness as in other areas of life. Engage below if you’ve seen firsthand the impact of coaching in your career or if you’re on the lookout for one. Let’s connect and grow together. #Development #ElitePerformance #LocktonLife

Selfish coaches seldom build strong, unified teams. In the realm of personal and professional development, the role of a coach is pivotal. Those who prioritize their own gain over the growth and unity of their team inevitably fall short of fostering an environment where everyone thrives. Selfish coaches who seek only to advance their own agendas often create a toxic environment. Team members may feel undervalued, leading to disengagement, high turnover, and subpar performance. The lack of genuine connection and support stifles collaboration, ultimately hindering the team's ability to achieve its full potential. As a coach, these are something I reflect upon almost every day👇 Am I being selfish? Am I clinging to my ego? Am I empowering my team? Being a coach is about being selfless.
