We’re officially halfway into the year of ‘doing what we said we would do’ for our 2024 HM Mini Goal Program! In May, our goal was to bring home flowers, and we were yet again amazed by all the participation. For June, we’re excited to share our next Mini Goal—Take a Walk, Without Your Phone. This is the perfect opportunity to both unplug and recharge. It seems so simple—the act of leaving our phone behind, yet we rarely allow ourselves to be disconnected from the digital world. This month, we challenge you to commit to taking one walk without your phone, allowing yourself to be fully present in the moment, connecting with your surroundings. Give it a try! Check out our blog to see how you can participate in our HM Mini Goals throughout the remainder of the year, in addition to a few of our favorite floral photo submissions from May! #HMMiniGoals #MiniGoalProgram #Culture

Join me for some attention restoration sessions this winter at the inspiring Campwell Farm https://lnkd.in/e_tmw8Qc My work outdoors is founded largely on the principles of Attention Restoration Theory, or ART. Rachel and Stephen Kaplan, professors of Psychology at the University of Michigan and experts in the effects of nature on health, suggest in their paper 'The Restorative Benefits of Nature: Toward an Integrative Framework that Attention Restoration Theory (ART)' in ‘fascinating’ natural settings has direct restorative effects including increasing our attention spans. We all instinctively know this. After a gruelling work day or when feeling down, strolling around the garden, staring out of a window, or taking a walk instantly improves our state of mind. The Kaplans’ work set out to empirically measure the idea that natural environments can rejuvenate us and boost our attention spans. Their work proposes four cognitive stages needed to achieve this state of restoration: Stage 1: Clearer head, or concentration: naturally, we release our minds of worries and concerns Stage 2: Mental fatigue recovery: our ability for directed attention is restored Stage 3: Soft fascination: using low stimulation activities, we further reduce our internal noise Stage 4: Reflection & restoration: immersion in a restorative environment, we restore our attention In Attention Restoration Therapy, these ‘restorative environments’ require four key components: Being away: being somewhere you can be psychologically detached from your present mental pressures Soft fascination: doing something that gently holds your attention Extent: in an environment in which you feel comfortable Compatibility: being somewhere that brings you enjoyment Join us at Campwell on a journey to help restore your own attention. #attentionrestoration #outsidethinking #retreats

Recipe for happiness and meaning: Pick clients you admire where the feeling is mutual. I'm blessed to mostly have clients who I can also consider my best friends. Currently I'm finding the most meaning in my career helping one of my best friends LJ Wilde launch and market his Cascade Cart. He invented the Cascade Cart (https://lnkd.in/gBWHSQK3 for more info) because his wonderful daughter Luci has a rare condition that keeps her in a wheelchair. When she got too big to carry in a backpack, he turned his attention to finding a way to keep taking her on trails. Now at age 11, the sun barely shines as bright as Luci's smile when she hits the trails with her family using her dad's invention. Though it was all for Luci at first, fate intervened and LJ soon quit his job to bring the Cascade Cart to other parents like him. Parents that didn't want to give up on the outdoors because their family has to rely on wheelchairs for mobility. Parents who didn't want to sideline their children to keep doing what they love. Parents who love their children like LJ does. During our pre-launch sale, we sold out our initial production run in 4 minutes flat. His cart is helping children normally confined to wheelchairs experience the best places in the world via singletrack, just like Luci. And allowing their families to break down mobility barriers to make new memories they wouldn't otherwise have. If you're in Dallas this weekend, we'll be at the Abilities Expo for our first tradeshow introduction to the world. We've been hearing about people in tears when they first see LJ's invention on the web. Can't wait to meet these people in person for the first time. Watch out world, here comes Huckleberry Hiking. It's going to be a better place for it. 🌎 Especially for those who need it. ♿ #accessibilityforall #accessibility #accessibletravel #huckleberryhiking #hiking #hikingtrail
