Well, I invite any and all members of the national press to come by PDA’S Town Hall this Sunday because there’s nothing uninspired about what we’ll be doing. After all, there’s only one way to save democracy: build a better, more resilient, democracy.  That means empowering the middle class, the working class, and poor who make up the majority of society, while diminishing the power of our reprehensible real-life oligarchs, reversing a 35 year trend towards greater concentration of power and wealth in the hands of an unethical de facto ruling class. So, on Sunday, we’ll summarize the many ways that PDA can advance an unabashedly progressive vision for America during a Harris presidency. Imagine. In just a few weeks, we’ll be making a case why the Administration would be wise to embrace our programs – because they have broad support and will improve our society. Indeed, progressives have no reason to feel uninspired. We believe in our program for America, and we are strong enough inside the Democratic Party, and in society at large, to make sure that progressive policies get a hearing after a Harris/Walz victory. In stark contrast, nothing remotely promising will happen if we don’t win – indeed, the exact opposite will be the order of some very, very dark days. Clearly, as people of conscience, we cannot allow ourselves to be wracked with guilt and left wondering ”could I have done more?” Join us on Sunday and you’ll be able answer that question with dignity; and increase the likelihood that in future years we’ll be reuniting to celebrate how together we defeated fascism. Because this Sunday’s Town Hall will be equal measure Inspiration and Mobilization.  That’s right, we’re going to do the right thing on the Zoom call, and take action to win this election and save our democratic republic.

We know media must play a critical role in lowering the temperature on political polarization and violence. If you want to do your part to promote civic discourse not discord, join Best-Case Scenario’s September event to learn how to engage effectively with the media this election cycle. The last presidential debate and resulting threats of violence in Springfield Ohio makes it clear: things may get tense with the elections. We want to make sure we have safe, healthy civic spaces filled with passion, not violence. The media plays a pivotal role to make that come true. That’s why the Best-Case Scenario Project is hosting an event to help communications directors and other organizational leaders identify the best way to engage media on civic discourse in the election season.    On September 26th, we’ll explore strategies that we collaboratively developed with leading media experts on how to pitch stories and shape coverage and the dos and don’ts on framing (with resources from leading organizations including Over Zero and Protect Democracy). Additionally, we’ll discuss when and how to hold the media accountable to shape norms and address headlines, images and language that normalize violence.
