The commendable Sector Wide Approach “SWAp” SWAp Coordination Office to the health system of this administration is critical to the system reforms. SWAp considers the health sector as a whole rather than fragmented health programs where funds are allocated against the agreed sector program to reduce gaps, overlaps and inefficiencies, the entire expenditure program and sources of financing visible to the coordinators. The expectation is that the Nigerian Government sets priorities for support; TA is demand driven; contributions are coordinated using government systems and reducing parallel demands which is a welcome change from prior systems. Unfortunately, #privatesector still has limited understanding of how this will be implemented nor their role and method of engagement. Healthcare Federation of Nigeria is coordinating this important discussion with the support of PharmAccess to seamlessly integrate private health stakeholders, and highlight the role of #digital or #mobile technologies to accelerate progress, improve efficiency and transparency. Medical Credit Fund | PharmAccess Backs Microhaem Scientifics's Healthcare Expansion in East Africa. Medical Credit Fund Africa (MCF) has partnered with MicroHaem Scientifics and Medical Supplies Limited (MSH) to strengthen Uganda's health system and expand healthcare services in East Africa. The collaboration aims to improve both private and public healthcare sectors in the region, with a focus on bridging the healthcare financing gap. MCF has provided crucial capital investment to MSH, enabling the company to establish and scale up its operations in Uganda. This financial support is intended to facilitate MSH's expansion into the wider East African region, with a particular emphasis on vaccine production. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥! Everyone will become, or has been, a patient at one point or another. So it’s important that we know our rights as a patient and a way of advocating for our rights when they are challenged. In Nigeria, the Patients Bill of Rights (PBoR) acts as a framework for the rights of Nigerians visiting healthcare facilities to receive treatment of any kind. One of the most fundamental of these rights is the Access to Information. Recently, a friend of mine visited a hospital for a pre-employment medical check. Later, as a joke, I asked what their blood pressure was, but they revealed they had been too nervous to ask and weren’t sure they would have been told. Under the PBoR, it is our right as patients to have access to all relevant information about our treatments and health status in a way that is clear and understandable. Never be nervous to request for your own medical records or for any inaccuracies in them to be corrected.
