Throughout my internship with PT. Indomas Jaya, I have gained a lot of valuable insights and unforgettable experiences that broaden my understanding about management and marketing. One of the most impactful lessons I have learned is regarding teamwork since it is one of the critical elements for a company to achieve their goals. This can be seen where good teamwork improves efficiency and increases innovation, as people with different skills can collaborate and come up with an effective strategy to overcome the problem. "You're offering tax incentive for internship hiring? Is it a new initiative? Oh, I didn't know about it." That's the common response I receive when I'm in an event attended by our industry leaders every time I shared about MySIP (National Structured Internship Programme) double tax incentive for companies that are hiring interns. & it's not just me, our Group CEO, Thomas Mathew and our fellow team members also had similar experience. Sometimes, when we go back and check, there are cases where the companies that the leaders representing are already MySIP employers and have benefited from it. No surprise. It could be due to internal communication. & in this era of information overload, sometimes it just doesn't reach your target audience, or sometimes, it's because at that point of communication, the information was deemed as less important. Regardless, we took it as a challenge to accelerate our communication strategy, via our Industry Partnership team led by Nor Asmahan Othman as well as via mass media and digital strategy led by Suanie Tew and Group Comms. Siti Noratikah Kasmoi, our Lead, MySIP and the team will continue to communicate, communicate and communicate with our stakeholders. This is very much aligned with the first pillar of our YB Minister Steven Sim's 5Ks which is 'Komunikasi'. We had two service design interns, Radhika Motani and Sabine Maselkowski, working for the City Executive Office's HR department and conducting a study to understand the challenges and barriers that supervisors face in hiring and integrating international interns, and, also, the experiences of interns.   Now, at the end of their internship, we wanted to ask about their own experiences.   💬 What surprised you? Sabine: I feel the variety of work contexts was surprising to me. Very much related to our project, some units and teams are at a very different stage when it comes to working in a more international environment. There is a lot of knowledge, positive experiences, best practices and such to benefit from but the internal exchange is something that needs to be fostered . I was also surprised by how positively the opportunity to practise English was received.   Radhika: The extent of work that is done by different teams across the organisations, and how massive the organisation is. From the outside it was difficult to understand the complexities that come with the size of the organisation. In every conversation with the interns taking part in our 6-month internship program and with their mentors we learn lessons about teamwork. The lesson which Hristo and Vasilena taught us is about the importance of challenging oneself. To challenge oneself and rise to the challenge, to find one’s professional path, to put oneself into someone else’s shoes and admit that we have things to share but we also have things to learn. Our interns and mentors have insatiable curiosity, and this is what makes the program such a great success for both the young talents and their mentors. 🎙️ Vasilena: My internship in Philip Morris Bulgaria helped me acquire teamwork skills and assume responsibility for the assigned tasks. It also taught me about what a satisfactory work environment comes down to. Being part of this team was a real adventure in which dynamism was the routine. I believe that the skills and knowledge I mastered with the help of my mentor and the other co-workers will play an important part in my professional development in the future. 🎙️ Hristo: For me to mentor a young talent represents a great opening into the way in which this new generation thinks and works. From my day-to-day communication with the young people participating in the internship program of Philip Morris Bulgaria I learned more about their perspectives on the various aspects of our business.
