Filling the GAP 👷♀️🏗🚜🦺 It was great to visit another local business today, this time at GAP Group Limited at their depot at Suffolk Park, Bury St Edmunds. A family run business since 1969, you walk in and instantly get a feel for the friendly service they offer to their customers. Thanks so much to Matt Homewood and the team for giving me an insight into the variety of services that you offer. Being a plant hire company, you wouldn't think that they also specialise in: ⛽️ Pump Services (thank them for clearing the flooding we all got stuck in recently!) 🕳 Trenching and Shoring (I managed to capture a snippet of a short term solution in the video) 💧 Tanker services (if you ever need 30,000 litres of water, Darren Farrow's your man!) 💡 Lighting and Heras fencing (one for all my events industry contacts!) 🗺 Surveying (including new drone technology and a full tech team, meaning minimal downtime on site) 🚻 Welfare Units (I caught first site of their brand new unit that runs on Hydrogen power!) There's so much more that I could tell you about, but I'm not the expert. Speak to Robin Baines at Robin.baines@gap-group.co.uk and he'll do a much better job of filling you in 😁 The work that GAP are doing around measuring their emissions is spot on, and it really is great to have your scope 3 calculations done for you by your supply chain 🌎 The best thing about chatting to the team is that they recognise the importance of engaging with the business community. They are happy to offer their expertise and tell you how they can help, and are realistic about their capabilities. I'm delighted to have GAP Group Limited as a part of the Suffolk Supply Chain community, and look forward to working with them on future projects 🤝 Suffolk Chamber of Commerce | Suffolk County Council #business #supplychain #network #community #supplychainsolutions #Suffolk #supportlocal #familybusiness #planthire #sustainability

it's time to expose the harsh reality of production houses exploiting their crew! They request projects at discounted rates, promise timely payments, and then leave us waiting for months with excuses like "the client/agency hasn't cleared payments yet." Meanwhile, they demand urgent turn arounds, putting immense pressure on us to deliver. But when it's time to pay, they go silent, archiving chats and blocking calls. This isn't just about delayed payments, it's about disrespecting hardworking crew members who live hand-to-mouth. We're not begging for charity, we're demanding fair pay for hard work. When colleagues who can afford to wait stay silent, it hurts those struggling financially. The new norm of cramming 2-day shoots into 24 hours, from dawn till midnight, takes a toll on our well-being and dignity. Only shift-based staff benefit, while the rest are taken for granted. We deserve fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect. It's time for change in the production industry. Let's unite to create a better industry, one that supports creativity, well-being, and fairness. lets share

We need transit riders in office. Let me explain… A Farmers Branch council person recently made a controversial statement that is sparking a wave of reactions. The council person mentioned high end townhomes with a "beautiful little rose garden area with nothing but a chain link fence between them and all the trash that comes up here on their trains." The impact of these words in a city with a history of housing discrimination lawsuits and anti-immigrant policies isn’t lost on me or others. There’s an implicit tone in the words used. He quickly clarified that the remark was being about litter, not the individuals using transit. But this sheds light on why having people with lived experience in office is crucial, and the importance of inclusive language and understanding how words and the legacy of a jurisdiction’s polcies are connected. Having people with lived experience in office and in roles with in government is essential. Read the story here: #TransitRiders #PublicTransportation #InclusiveLanguage

Creating communities that embrace and support the homeless is a cause close to my heart. It's about more than just providing shelter; it's about fostering a sense of belonging and dignity for all. Firstly, I believe in the power of 'Housing First' models. These prioritize giving the homeless a stable place to live, without preconditions. From there, we can offer tailored support services. It's a compassionate approach that has seen success in various UK cities. Secondly, community integration is key. We should encourage local businesses and residents to get involved with initiatives that support the homeless. This could be through mentorship programs, employment opportunities, or simply by creating spaces where everyone is welcome to spend time together. Lastly, we must address the stigma surrounding homelessness. Education and awareness campaigns can go a long way in changing perceptions and fostering empathy. When we understand the myriad of reasons behind homelessness, we can create more effective support systems. Your thoughts and experiences are invaluable. How can we, as a community, further these ideas? #Homelessness #CommunitySupport #Inclusion #vetro #vetrorecruitment

AIDER TIP: In cases like these, release the brakes immediately. Braking won't aid in controlling the vehicle once sliding has begun, and systems like ABS and traction control may not be effective as they assume the vehicle is stationary. Allow the vehicle to glide without braking to regain control. You can add your Winter Driving tips below to help other drivers 😊
