One way WE can facilitate inclusion is by collecting SOGI (sexual orientation/gender identity) data in biomedical research (not exhaustive). Let's demonstrate seeing everyone by counting everyone. How we count determines who we count and who we count, determines who counts. Who counts determines everything!
During Pride Month, we celebrate the courage and resilience of the LGBTQI+ community and stand beside them in the fight against hatred and bigotry. Today and every day, HHS remains deeply committed to protecting the rights of LGBTQI+ Americans.

Whether you are a public servant or not, this is a great month to celebrate, learn, and be an ally. What allyship looks like: -apologizing for not using someone's pronouns, and commiting to do better next time -sharing resources and events un support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community -speaking up to correct homophobic and transphobic rhetoric, not matter who it comes from -creating safe spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ -take initiative to learn -unlearn unconscious biases Other ideas? Happy Public Service Pride Week! This is a time to celebrate the diversity and hard-fought victories of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities within the public service. It’s also an opportunity to recognize public servants with intersecting experiences, including members of the Indigenous, Black, and racialized communities, as well as people with disabilities. Over the past five years, Public Service Pride Week has grown into a symbol of unity, inclusion, and progress. It is more than just a celebration; it’s a testament to our unity in serving all Canadians. It’s a time when we proudly showcase the diverse tapestry of individuals who form the backbone of our nation’s public service. Each one of us, as public servants, plays an important role in creating a more inclusive workplace. We must continue to champion diversity, challenge biases, and foster an environment where everyone feels safe and empowered to be their authentic selves. – Clerk Hannaford and Deputy Clerk Drouin

Founder & Director at Village of Sound Mind | Inclusive Mental Health Therapist | Decolonizer of Wellness Spaces | Advocate, Speaker & Writer
Today I attended the first day of the National Association of Black Social Workers (NASBW) conference. Not only am I excited to attend for the first time—Dr. Sapphire Boone has graciously invited me to co-present on a topic close to my heart: "Reimagining Competence and Exploring Alternative Pathways to Licensure through Policy Advocacy." This presentation is not just a speaking opportunity for me; it's a chance to shine a light on the crucial work done in support of SB871, alongside dedicated advocates. It's a narrative about channeling my rage into productive advocacy, inspired by the trailblazers of the #STOPASWB movement. The National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) has historically been a vocal critic of the current licensure process, yet, all too often, their voices are excluded from policy discussions. This presentation is my homage to those pioneers, a reminder to everyone in attendance—and to the broader Social Work Field—that the voices of black social workers are indispensable, especially in legislative arenas. To say I'm honored is an understatement. This is a moment of humility and pride—a chance to remind us all that standing on the shoulders of giants gives us the vantage point not just to see further, but to speak louder and more effectively. As I prepare for my presentation tomorrow, I am reminded of the power of advocacy, the importance of inclusive dialogue, and the enduring strength of a community united for change. Here's to making every moment count! #NASBW56 #SocialWork #PolicyAdvocacy #ABSW #SocialWorkLicensure #CommunityChange

🌈 Companies often tout their commitment to diversity and inclusion, but what happens when they receive a discrimination report from an employee? Our experience show that many go silent, raising questions about the authenticity of their commitment. Is it a genuine desire for change or merely 'rainbow-washing'—a facade to appear inclusive? We at www.Free-Equal.com believe in fostering conversations that lead to real change, especially among LGBTQ+ individuals. Let's hold companies accountable for more than just their words. #letsstarttalking #DiversityandInclusion #Accountability #LGBTQ #pride365

Strategic thinking and supporting human rights are deeply interconnected. As Eleanor Roosevelt so eloquently put it, “Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home - so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. ... Such are the places where every man, woman, and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere.” This powerful quote reminds us that the fight for human rights starts within our own communities and daily interactions. It's in these personal spaces that we must advocate for and uphold the principles of equality and dignity for all. Strategic thinking comes into play as we navigate the complexities of societal structures to effect change. It requires foresight, planning, and a deep understanding of the human condition to support and advance human rights effectively. #makeideashappen #humanrights #change #thinkdifferenty #thinkstrategically #makeyourmove
