49 days into the job and this is my first hire 😊 Hiring in your first 60 days as a new CMO might sound like a hiring frenzy, but it is not. Here's the process I followed: ✅ Chatted with all team members to see if their roles felt right for them (and if I agreed). ✅ Skills gap analysis: figured out what skillsets we lacked, keeping our overall strategy in mind. ✅ Prioritizing needs: what do we need to source like NOW. And the winner is... content marketing. In my opinion, content creation can't be outsourced effectively. It needs a dedicated, in-house champion who's close to the business. The #1 biggest issue agencies face is getting clients. The #2 biggest issue is… Building a team of superstars. Hitting 7-10k MRR won’t be hard with time. The REAL issue is once you’re tied up with fulfillment, WHO you’re going to bring in to help you reach level 2. Anyone can hit 7-10k MRR but then they’re working full-time to fulfill. The struggle that doesn’t get talked about is how to hire superstars who’ll learn how you work & let you focus on what’s important: Scaling & refining your systems. Tuesday Tip! #Hiring for a new role? . . . If you’re hiring for a new position or a role you’ve never had in your company, it’s important to define what the position will entail first. Then, use a clear title based on the duties and tasks you laid out. Instead of “Product Guru” or “Happiness Coordinator,” use a more obvious title. “Inside Salesperson,” “HR Director,” “Marketing Manager,” etc.
