Great conversation with a multifamily GP this week about growing his team ... they own 15 properties, each with several hundred units. Current team situation 3 partners, 1 junior analyst (full-time) Partners cover acquisitions (sourcing), investor relations, and asset management. Analyst supports the acquisitions and asset management efforts. My take ... 1. Partners should focus on parts of the business where relationships matter the most: acquisitions and fundraising 2. You won't be able to delegate ownership of a job function to a junior analyst. Next hire should probably be a mid to senior-level asset manager to provide leverage to the on-going property operations. Things to keep outsourced? - Marketing - Accounting ... wait to bring those functions in-house - there are great outsourced options
