Larger studios hire them for specialised tasks, valuing their depth, focus, and precision. 🔑 But here's the key: figuring out which one you are early on in your career is vital. Surfers and Divers both have important roles, but the direction you choose influences your career. A LESSON FROM A FLUFFY DOG If you looked at Harley on the street you would NEVER guess she's a fully certified explosives detection dog. She's round. She's small. She's 3x as old as most of the other dogs on our team. Her "resume" screams I AM A PET DOG, I WILL FETCH YOUR SLIPPERS AND CUDDLE YOUR FEET! Now, if you've seen Harley WORK you'd think she had been professionally bred to search. She'll tirelessly search huge spaces. She'll climb on counters and stuff herself around corners to make sure she doesn't miss a spot. She'll work for hours and still be hungry for more. Her talents and skillset are so much more than you'd assume at first glance. Since this in a LinkedIn post I've got to connect it to careers somehow - maybe you're a "Harley", and you're trying to pivot into a career that's not what others expect from you. Maybe you're trying to hire a new team member, and there's a "Harley" in the pool of applicants that doesn't look like the perfect fit at first glance - but will be an invaluable asset to your team once you give them a shot. Maybe you'll like this post just because my dog is cute 🤷♀️ If there is the DESIRE to work, there's the POTENTIAL for success. Try that new skill that makes no sense on your "resume". Hire the applicant that doesn't have the "perfect" background, but is hungry for the opportunity. Differences make our lives and teams stronger - and dogs ALWAYS know what's up.
