BBA Student | X HR Intern at Green Bhumi & Steller Sprangs Solutions | Offering Fresh HR Insights & Talent Management Skills
Just a few months ago, I was navigating the corridors of my university, filled with anticipation for my future career. Today, I find myself in the middle of a fascinating journey as a remote HR intern, and it has been nothing short of transformative! 📅 Day 1: With a mix of excitement and nervousness, I logged in from my home office, ready to embark on my first professional adventure. I was greeted by a virtual team meeting, where I quickly realized that even in a remote setup, the camaraderie and team spirit were palpable. 💻 The Remote Advantage: Working remotely has offered unique insights and flexibility. From video interviews to virtual team-building sessions, I’ve learned how technology can bridge distances and make remote work not only possible but effective. 👥 People-Centric Learning: The core of HR is people, and even from behind a screen, I’ve been able to engage with employees, understand their concerns, and contribute to creating a supportive work environment. I’ve conducted remote interviews, participated in virtual onboarding, and even helped organize online training sessions. 📈 Growth and Development: Each day has been a learning curve. I’ve delved into various aspects of HR, from recruitment and employee engagement to payroll and compliance. The hands-on experience has turned theoretical concepts into practical skills, equipping me with the confidence to tackle real-world challenges. 🤝 Mentorship and Support: Despite the physical distance, I’ve been fortunate to receive incredible support from my mentors and colleagues. Their guidance and feedback have been invaluable, fostering my professional growth and helping me navigate the complexities of HR. 🌟 Highlights: One of the most memorable experiences was coordinating a virtual wellness program. Seeing the team come together to prioritize their well-being, even in a remote setting, was truly inspiring. As I reflect on my first internship experience, I’m grateful for the opportunities and the amazing people I’ve connected with along the way. This remote internship has not only reinforced my passion for HR but also shown me the power of adaptability and innovation in today’s world. Here’s to the start of an exciting career in HR! 🚀 #RemoteInternship #HRJourney #LearningAndGrowing #FutureHR #Grateful #networking #internship

Sometimes you can't even do the basics when you have done much better than that. There might be reasons for it, of course. But we NEED to improvise that. Give me a minute to explain. A few months back I wrote an email to Sheethal as I got to know via LinkedIn that Beyond Virality Consulting is hiring. I got hired too as an intern. Met a few other interns, a great team, great culture. Flexible working, no mental pressure, super supportive co-founders! When I joined I was enthusiastic to work, learn new things, work on projects and try to give my best. But it did not work out on my end. Wanted to continue long term but had to leave after a month. - 𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 When you are working remotely with a flexible work schedule, you need to communicate or be in touch with the POC/manager/team members etc. or inform them prior. (I lagged here a lot of times) - 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 Sometimes even if your role is less or you don't have to contribute much from your end, team meetings are important if you want to understand the environment and people better. (Due to heavy meds intake, oversleeping became an issue - missed or got late for morning meetings) - 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩! You might be shy, you might be an introvert, you might be an overthinker(I am too) but overthinking DOES NOT HELP at work. You NEED to ask,. Your senior/mentor/POC/colleague/fellow intern, anyone, but ask. Ask what? - Doubts, queries, silly questions, suggestions/inputs anything that you are not sure of. 𝘐𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘴𝘬? 𝘊𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴? - It's great if you figure it out on your own. But it's important to clear and get CORRECT information from the beginning because you'll be working with them for a long or the next few months. 𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐔𝐏! Let's say one time you asked, you got the answer, and you understood. But you might have follow-up questions or doubts remaining or you might realize it later on. Note them down and ask later but ASK! I think I lagged here too somewhere, somehow. This was not my first time doing a remote internship. Still, I did the basics wrong. Felt bad about it. But feeling bad DOES NOT give you results. Health issues, medications etc. were some of the reasons but I guess I wasn't able to manage it well. I did This post is not about giving gyaan to people since I am not perfect or the right person to do so but you can take icchaaanusaar. This is a reminder to myself that I have to LEARN from these basics and NOT repeat them. Also, I just realized how on LinkedIn we always tell our bright sides- achievements, results, approaches to crack XYZ, things to do to become better etc. etc. but reflecting on past mistakes, and understanding the basics are also important. To more learnings, new beginnings, candid conversations and a year ahead. Cheers Riya Ps: Currently I have no picture for the algorithm:)

Digital Marketing Strategist | 📝 Content Creator | 🌟 I Help Entrepreneurs for successful online Marketing | 🎓 Coaching Freshers to Digital marketing Path| 👨❤️👨 Devoted Husband
😑 So, I just finished interviewing interns, and guess what everyone's asking? "WFH, please!" Can't blame them, 🙄 PJs in place of pants are a tempting siren song. 😥 But here's the thing I learned, both as an office drone and a remote warrior intern: remote ain't all sunshine and yoga breaks. 😏 You miss out on the good stuff: the knowledge osmosis that happens when you're around colleagues like office plants soaking up sunlight. 😎 Suddenly, those casual convos, overheard brainstorms, and quick "guru on the go" moments vanish into the ether of Slack messages and fuzzy Zoom calls. It's like trying to learn magic online - poof, no rabbits! 😇 Don't get me wrong, WFH has its charm, but for interns seeking maximum growth, it's like training for a marathon on a treadmill. You won't feel the wind in your hair, the grit under your nails, the real-world pressure that shapes you into a pro. My two cents? Interns, don't just chase the comfy couch - chase the learning too! Companies, maybe a hybrid approach is the secret sauce? Let's make internships launchpads, not just comfy sofas! About the picture: While doing this interviews i suddenly remember this movie.. The Intern (Robert De Niro) being an intern and he goes to office daily , punctual and mingle with people.. always there is say on western countries "Experience Never Go out of Fashion" ... so my Dear Interns ... go to office experience it... #WFHInterns #LearningLessons #HybridHope #jobalert #personalbrand #askarun

Cultivating Excellence in the Age of Remote Internships This summer, I have the pleasure of supervising a diverse group of interns. While remote work's flexibility has advantages, I've noticed a trend that merits discussion: most interns are content with doing the bare minimum, requiring consistent follow-up. Surprisingly, only one intern who works from the office has truly exceeded expectations. This observation raises an important question: does working from home foster mediocrity? IN my opinion, which could be wrong, the answer is YES Several factors could contribute to this phenomenon. Firstly, the lack of direct supervision and spontaneous collaboration can make it easier for interns to slip into a comfort zone, doing just enough to get by. The absence of immediate feedback and accountability that comes with physical presence may also play a role. Moreover, cultivating the feeling of being part of a team is more challenging remotely. Interns working from home might feel isolated and disconnected from the company culture, diminishing their motivation to go above and beyond. They miss out on the subtle yet crucial aspects of learning that occur through casual interactions and observations in an office setting. Setting clear expectations and providing regular, meaningful engagement opportunities is crucial to address this. Challenging interns with stimulating tasks and recognizing their efforts can make a significant difference. Creating a hybrid model that balances remote work with occasional office presence helps bridge the gap. Ultimately, it's about fostering an environment where interns feel valued, connected, and motivated to exceed expectations, regardless of where they work. How has your experience with remote interns been? What strategies have you found effective in keeping them engaged and productive? Since I kicked off my marketing internship with Penguin Random House this week, I thought I'd start a new series called #WFHWednesday, sharing tips, tricks, and takes on working from home as a remote Gen Z employee. I encountered a strange feeling when sitting down at my desk and opening up my laptop to do remote work. I've been working on my laptop since after my freshman year of college, but it hit me that I haven't sat down to do work on a screen for eight hours since, you guessed it, 2020. Unlike my experience with online high school, though, I am thoroughly enjoying my days and am not having a problem (so far) with getting through my 9-5 (sometimes 9-6) day. I wanted to share some tips on how to get through a long day staring at a screen without burning out. 1: This seems obvious, but loving what you do will make it so much easier to sit through a day in one spot. Find a passion for your activities, and even if you're working on a project you don't totally love, remember why you like your field in the first place. 2: Keep your cameras on! It fosters personal connections so much faster, and makes other people more inclined to engage with you. This is also why I think I like working in a remote environment way more than being in a remote academic environment. 3: Balance your day with tasks and communication. Doing tasks back-to-back can definitely burn me out even if I'm not working 8-hour days. Even if you have no meetings scheduled, take a few deep breaths and look around your room before continuing. 4: Schedule time away from your screen! I like to do this right before I start my day and right after I end it, then another hour before I fall asleep. I hope these are helpful to my fellow Gen Z interns, especially if you've never worked remotely before! #genz #internship #summerinternshiptips #workfromhome #workfromhometips #deskjob #deskjobhealth #genzintern #genzemployee #genzworkforce #remotejobtips #burnout

Are you a remote summer intern? Do you have an intern in another location reporting into you? Even this Dunkin' ad is showing more location-inclusive imagery with this hybrid meeting of the "interns". Coming into a company as an intern (or a new hire) can be difficult, especially if you are not with the location majority. 💫 If you are a remote summer intern, or if you are managing an intern in another location, consider these tips. Share what you would add to this list in the comments. 1️⃣ Set communication norms to never miss important info while not having to feel like you are always "on-call". ✅ Tools: Which communication tool should you be using for which type of communication? ✅ Availability: What hours in your local time zone are you expected to be available for live, synchronous meetings? ✅ Speed: What is the expected speed of response to different types of communication – urgent, FYI, update, feedback requested? ✅ Verification: How should you verify confirmation of the receipt of communication? (examples: thumbs up 👍 emoji, email reply with "I'm on it") 2️⃣ Use an Assignment Brief to literally get on the same page for any project. ✅ Clarify objectives and executional mandatories. ✅ Outline who is the decision maker and who needs to input to the project. ✅ Agree to milestones to check in on progress. These are just some of the techniques that we teach to develop the skills to connect, coach, and create inclusivity when working in distributed, hybrid, and remote teams.
