📢 Excited to share insights from the paper "Reflections from the 2019 Durrës Earthquakes: An Earthquake Engineering Evaluation for Masonry Typologies"! 🏢🏚️   This study zeroes in on the earthquake's impact on residential and public buildings in the affected area. The focus lay on low-rise masonry structures, revealing a stark contrast – new reinforced concrete constructions adhering to contemporary seismic guidelines largely emerged unscathed.   🔍 The study sheds light on key findings: 🔹 Extensive damage in masonry structures near the epicenter. 🔹 Resilience of modern constructions complying with updated seismic codes. 🔹 Varied damage patterns explained with technical depth. 🔹 Highlighting shortcomings in conventional masonry methods and materials. 🔹 Urgent need to address vulnerabilities for future seismic events. As we move forward, this study underscores the critical imperative of enhancing masonry buildings' seismic resistance. It serves as a poignant reminder that preparedness is key, as similar risks might extend to rural areas in Albania and beyond. Eshte e udhes te shkruhet dhe shpjegohet qe termeti i 26 Nentorit 2019 i perket me perafersi nje ndertese me jetegjatesi ekonomike 10 vjet dhe besueshmeri sizmike 90% (RP~95 vjet) [shpresoj fort qe vlera e sakte te publikohet shpejt] ndersa gjithe ndertesat e ndikuara te cialt kane pasur nje projekt inxhinierik jane projektuar per jetegjatesi ekonomike 50 vjet me besueshmeri sizmike 90% (RP~475 vjet). Pa u bere ky shpjegim eshte e veshtire te kuptohet sjellja e ndertesave.
