Did you know? You can now view if equipment has an inspection associated with it. If a piece of equipment has hours logged, you'll get a warning about any related inspections. You can also see who assigned the inspection and check if the right form was completed. So the question was "how do YOU inspect firestop?" Many folks gave the right answer. I'd still love to see how other people do it. You might inspect differently in your market. You might have never been trained HOW to do it correctly and just forged ahead with good intentions. Well. I'm here to tell you that there are resources aplenty to help with this. Manufacturers, governing agencies, 3rd party training and education agencies like IFC and FCIA. Let us help you. This might seem like an easy task, but when faced with an entire market of municipal codes enforcement over state, it is far from an easy thing to approach. Here is a quick synopsis of what is required for firestop special inspections. #3m #internationalfirestopcouncil #IFC #firestop #firestopping #firesafety #lifesafety #continuingeducation #constructioneducation #construction #buildinginnovation #buildbetter #buildsmart #passivefireprotection #codeenforcement #buildingcodes #firemarshal #buildinginspections #contractoreducation #constructionmaterials #buildingmaterials #kcmo #inspectors #codesinspectors #firemashals

Inspection cheat sheet! I actually have one from the IFC as well. Inspectors mean well. But are often overburdened with what they have to look at while walking a floor plate, doing an in wall or overhead inspection. Their job is to find things wrong. Don't take it personally. People are people and everyone has off days. They are there to help the job get completed correctly. So how about a cheat sheet to help them through? #3m #internationalfirestopcouncil #IFC #firestop #firestopping #firesafety #lifesafety #continuingeducation #constructioneducation #construction #buildinginnovation #buildbetter #buildsmart #passivefireprotection #codeenforcement #buildingcodes #firemarshal #buildinginspections #contractoreducation #constructionmaterials #buildingmaterials #kcmo #inspectors #codesinspectors #firemashals

Time for a frequent repost. Why? Because it is a conversation I have often. When inspectors learn that these are not firestop products, the first question after is always "What product do they install then?" Then we have "the talk". Systems. Install systems. On the upside, it is a great way to catch an inspectors ear who may have never had the chance to be educated on the topic. #3m #internationalfirestopcouncil #IFC #firestop #firestopping #firesafety #lifesafety #continuingeducation #constructioneducation #construction #buildinginnovation #buildbetter #buildsmart #passivefireprotection #codeenforcement #buildingcodes #firemarshal #buildinginspections #contractoreducation #constructionmaterials #buildingmaterials #kcmo #inspectors #codesinspectors #firemashals
