🌟Meet Kristen Watkins, one of Hutto ISD’s @USdepartmentofLabor Teacher Apprentices working in the BaSE program at Hutto High School. Kristen’s journey was inspired by her biggest supporter—her mom—who encouraged her to take this life-changing step. Kristen shared: "I want to be the teacher that her students know they matter to her and watch my students grow and thrive." Through the apprenticeship program, Kristen has developed a deep sense of compassion, drive, and perseverance while building meaningful relationships with her students.🏫✨ This experience has also given Kristen a newfound confidence as she continues to balance her work in the classroom and her college journey. We’re proud to have Kristen as part of our program and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make as a future educator! 🦛🧡 #HippoNation #FutureEducators #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW2024

🎉 EDvance College Has Become A Registered ECE Apprenticeship Sponsor! 🎉 This year, with the support of ECEPTS, EDvance College proudly became a Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor. Our Apprenticeship Standards were officially approved by the U.S. Department of Labor for two key roles in early childhood education: Early Childhood Educator (Teacher Child Development Permit Level) and Lead Early Childhood Educator (Master Teacher Child Development Permit Level). Our apprenticeship program creates an earn-and-learn pathway, blending classroom learning with hands-on experience. Student-employees can earn their degrees, gain practical skills, and secure wage increases, all while maintaining financial stability. By aligning our college programs with Registered Apprenticeship Standards, we ensure that both students and employer partners benefit from high-quality, career-advancing opportunities. In addition to serving as a sponsor, EDvance also plays a critical role as the Related Technical Instruction (RTI) Provider for other Registered Apprenticeship programs sponsored by our partners. This allows us to expand our reach and provide specialized instruction across various apprenticeship pathways. We are excited to pilot this program with Felton Institute, one of our dedicated employer partners. Together, we are co-creating a pathway that empowers Felton’s workforce while strengthening our collaboration as a higher education partner. #RegisteredApprenticeship #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ECE #EDvanceCollege #HigherEducation #ApprenticeshipSponsor #EarnAndLearn

Across the country, we’re grappling with a shortage of teachers, and Delaware is no exception. Despite concerning figures, Delaware is performing better than other states. According to a 2023 Policy Memo from the U.S. Department of Education, only 3 states experienced any growth in their educator workforce post-pandemic. Delaware led the pack with a 5.1% increase. In its commitment to leading the nation, the state is actively developing more high-quality pathways into teaching. One initiative is the introduction of a Registered Apprenticeship in Teaching. Transforming Education Through Apprenticeships! 🚀 At GoSprout, we are thrilled about the growing momentum for teaching apprenticeships. Our founder, Carlos Vazquez, deeply influenced by his early experiences in the New York City Teaching Fellows program, is a passionate advocate for these initiatives. With recent governmental support, teaching has been recognized as an apprenticeable profession, opening up pathways for countless potential educators. Teaching apprenticeships merge traditional and vocational education, offering hands-on experience while pursuing a degree. This method not only alleviates the teacher shortage but also brings diverse, well-prepared educators into our schools. As these programs grow, they continue to break down barriers and provide equitable opportunities in education, fulfilling our vision at GoSprout to empower educators and uplift communities through innovative learning models. "Learn how teaching apprenticeships are addressing the teacher shortage and creating opportunities for diverse, skilled educators. With the aging workforce of skilled trades workers, it is imperative that there is succession planning in place, beginning with education and programs directed to our youth entering high school. At Brawo Lofthouse, we see firsthand how technical skills and trades are imperative to the manufacturing industry. We support the skilled trades apprenticeship program and, in the past, have donated equipment to the local high school for students to gain hands on experience that may spark an interest towards skills trades. In Ontario, the Ministry of Education (Minister of Education - Todd Smith) has recently updated the curriculum for high school students, introducing a mandatory technological education credit within the first 2 years of high school. They are also strengthening the career courses and programs to focus on working with students to plan their education towards perspective career paths.
