Gurugram-based defense robotics startup, Sharang Shakti, has successfully completed a pre-seed funding round, raising Rs 5 crore. The round was jointly led by AUM Ventures (AUM Ventures) and Venture Highway, with participation from the JK Group's Family Office and various angel investors. The funds will be used to expand the team and accelerate the development of innovative products. Sharang Shakti aims to build a comprehensive technology platform that supports a wide range of robotic systems for defense applications, with a vision to produce next-generation systems akin to those of Lockheed Martin. 🤖 +🚗 Xioami's New Fully Auotmated EVs Super Factory 👇 It produces 1 car every 76 seconds!! The SU7 is the first car that smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has unveiled. It happened on March 28, and the model has already entered production. Xiaomi builds the sedan at the Xiaomi Super Factory in Beijing, China. The high pace is due to the highly automated production line and advanced smart techniques involved. More than 700 robots reportedly operate in the factory. They carry out tasks such as installation, inspection, and transportation. From the moment the parts are picked up until they are assembled to the car body, it takes less than 30 seconds. The smartphone/car manufacturer claims that this strategy is three times more efficient than using human operators only. Xiaomi has implemented a smart system in the paint shop. Due to the flexible color sorting technique, the system is capable of quickly filling, cleaning, and supplying paint of each color, switching from one to another, in just 40 minutes. As EXPO2024 draws near, we're thrilled to share another inspiring story from our series "Top Tech Startups & Entrepreneurs to Watch at EXPO2024"! 👏 Today, let's meet Vinayak N., Co-Founder & CEO of Zendar. Born and raised in India 🇮🇳, Vinayak N. studied in Sweden 🇸🇪, where he gained experience working with various radio telescopes. Later, he moved to the US and joined Harvard University, contributing to the development of an instrument for imaging the black hole at the center of our galaxy. He subsequently earned his PhD from University of California, Berkeley. 🎓 Drawing from his background in radio astronomy, Vinayak always aimed to apply its technology to real-world solutions. 🚗 Partnering with his co-founder, who had experience in autonomous driving, they identified an opportunity to enhance radar performance for cars. In 2017, Zendar was founded, now employing 55 individuals across California 🇺🇸, Germany 🇩🇪, and France 🇫🇷. The concept behind Zendar, as Vinayak explains, is "to create a large antenna for radar." Instead of physically building the antenna, they strategically place small radars around the car and utilize software to generate a virtual antenna, resulting in highly detailed images akin to a large radio telescope. In the early stages, Zendar faced challenges in engaging large chip companies. Vinayak recalls that their initial discussions with tier ones and OEMs were facilitated through Plug and Play Tech Center. 👏 Eventually, they partnered with NXP Semiconductors to bring their technology to market, with NXP also participating in Zendar's recent financing round. 💸 Looking ahead, Zendar's primary objective for the upcoming year is to prepare their technology for mass production and make it accessible to customers for deployment in their vehicles.
