Baseball metaphors abound in investing, at least in the U.S., and Fiduciary Management’s Jonathan Bloom uses an apt one to describe his firm’s approach: “It’s as true as ever that investors are looking to hit home runs,” he says. “We're content to hit singles and doubles and actually think the secret to the business is more in reducing strikeouts.” Looking to pay “sufficiently cheap” prices for advantaged businesses that prosper when times are good and gain ground when times are difficult, Bloom and his team discuss in the latest issue of Value Investor Insight where they are finding idiosyncratic opportunities today (link in the comments). $BME $G $GTES $FBIN $SW #valueinvesting #stockresearch #valueinvestors

With baseball season officially starting, I decided to rewatch Moneyball. This movie speaks to me on so many levels! It's a great reminder that just because your competitors do things one way, doesn't mean it's the right way for you. It's important to look at metrics that can drive your business, but the same metrics others focus on may not be right for you. Most importantly, believe in your plan and stick to your convictions, even if it means making tough decisions like starting Hatteberg at 1st! Have you watched Moneyball? What lessons did you take away from it? #Moneyball #BusinessLessons #StickToYourConvictions

Co-Founder & MD @ Massive.vc, 2x Founder. Investing in category leading companies that shape our future.
This is a huge number. $6T of capital sitting on the sidelines, via Howard Lindzon and friends. https://lnkd.in/dNYkDckv That is some serious dry powder across portfolios. Will deployment start in public markets and make its way to private? Selfishly, I certainly hope so. Short of another black swan event or global escalation of current conflicts (both possible, for sure) we just might end up with a confluence of bullish things happening next year that include 1) Fed starts rate reduction in 2H 2) BTC halving + ETF launch = 50>100k potential and then liquidity 3) this $6T starts to move into deployment and drives market run 4) Inflation continues to drop/hold. So my personal read is there is some light at the end of the bear market tunnel. One of my favorite semi-useless soundbites during these down markets (I've been thu 3 of them now) which is - "must be present to win" - is truer than ever. We don't know when, how quickly or if another global event is the record-scratch to this party...
