The Essence of Hospitality | "There is a certain magical moment that comes when a hotel’s staff is so attuned to the guests that they can predict what the guests will need" I completely agree with Larry Mogelonsky, P. Eng. and Adam Mogelonsky in an article they wrote for Hospitality Net. "To achieve a Forbes Travel Guide rating is truly a rarity and an achievement that a property should cherish. Of the roughly 700,000 hotels and resorts in the world, only 0.002% of properties attain this distinction." 🔹 Most People Don't - (MPD) 🔹 To achieve the 5 star rating, "Do" what "Most People Don't" - (MPD) "They are looking for a service that is ‘effortless’. In other words, staff is not just going through the motions of service delivery but is performing these tasks in such a way that the guest feels that it is second nature." 🔹 Observe, Anticipate & Over Deliver - (MPD) #MPD #Mostpeopledont #leadership #success #customerexperience #5starhotels. #Forbestravelguide #serviceexcellence #luxury #hospitality

Now that the shock has worn off...(has it?) Why is the news of Hilton buying Graduate so detrimental to independent hotels? It means one more hotel in your area (and they plan to expand by hundreds) that offer Hilton Honors points. One more that is pulling guests because they want points....and let's face it, Graduate hotels are COOL! This is the ugliest/busiest map ever (don't tell my marketing team 😜 ) but it's so valuable. Look at the THREE highly rated independents in Minneapolis. Can you even find them in the sea of Marriotts, Hiltons, Choice, IHG, etc? Don't worry, I circled them for you. But now, it's only two. PS - MCR Hotels if you want to talk about a program for The Chambers Hotel, let me know 😉 #stayindependent #independenthotels #thebesthotelsareindependenthotels

A great article on the trends and developments at Marriott!
HOTEL MANAGEMENT Magazine's Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Glatt, M.A. sits down with Anthony Capuano, President and CEO of Marriott International, for a one-on-one discussing what’s ahead for the brand. Capuano acknowledges that Marriott’s success is directly dependent on its owners and franchisees. “Our business model is simple to explain,” he said. “We are a high-growth company, and that growth comes on the shoulders and the balance sheets of our owners and franchisees.” Read the full article here: https://loom.ly/IEXiUJE #Marriott #HotelOperations #HotelDevelopment

Here is a video in the Wall Street Journal this week that begins with a discussion of the structure of the branded hotel industry in the United States, and then veers into a discussion of revenue management. The video gives a lot of creds to Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt, and curiously ignores IHG, as well as two brand companies with a huge footprint in the economy segment: Choice and Wyndham.
